On 27 November U.S. and Afghanistan troops were on patrol when they were fired upon by what they taught were Taliban forces that were believed to be operating in the area.
The region being patrolled was well known hideout for the Taliban who would often take pot shots against U.S. and Afghan forces near the border. According to after Action reports the patrol checked with the Pakistani Army, which reported that there was no troops in the immediate area.
While under attack, an American ground controller called for air support to suppress enemy fire Apache Helicopters and an AC-130 attacked the outposts killing 24 Pakistani soldiers. The first shot was fired by Pakistani Army thinking they were firing on Taliban Insurgents.
The Pakistani Intelligence Service claimed to have passed along information that militants were planning to attack the outposts, with this information the outpost would be on full alert. It has long been suspected that the Pakistani spy agency has a very close relationship with the Taliban, al Qaeda, and the Haqqani Network.
At a press conference by the Pakistani military at the armys General Headquarters in Rawalpindi they insist the air strikes were an unprovoked attack against the outposts.
They disputed Americans claims saying our forces were actually 9 miles away from the outposts they insisted they had received the militants fire from. Clearly the Pakistanis must think the world is stupid.
They over looked simple little facts like American reliance on GPS navigation and that the Pakistanis fired the first shot. During the press conference the Pakistani Generals were evasive enough on genuine details as to convince observers that they had no clue about what actually happened.

An earlier report said the Pakis claimed the helicopters fired upon “sleeping” soldiers in the outposts? We’re getting every story under the sun now. The truth here is, it was an ambush that went wrong for the diaper heads.
