I assume they get credit for helping unions picket too... not that our schools are biased bigoted leftist organizations...
You’d get the same credit volunteering for a Republican or other candidate as well.
This is not a crime or an abuse of power and the local GOP chair should be trying to recruit some students who need to get the credit as well.

Loretta Harper works at Desert Pines High School
Harper, who makes $74,000 a year plus benefits, plans to expand outreach efforts like this nationwide now that shes a co-chair of Obamas re-election campaign
BarackObama: RT @OFA_NV: Loretta Harper started as a volunteer in 2008, now she’s co-chair of our campaign in NV
UPDATE: Victor has now spoken with Loretta Harper and has updated his post to reflect the following:
The students actually got class credit in 2008, and not merely extra credit as the Las Vegas Review-Journal had claimed. The headline of this post has been changed accordingly.
Harper admits she approached children (as well as vice versa) about volunteering for Obama. She claims she would also give credit to students for volunteering for Republicans but no students have asked her about that. (Gee, I wonder why not? Could it have anything to do with her very public pro-Obama activism? Nah, that couldnt be it.)
She is indeed planning to have students volunteer for Obama for class credit again this year
Her students call her Mrs. Harper, dedicated activist and a devout Obama supporter from day 1.
As a member of the Clark County Education Association she was elected to the Nevada State Association Board of Directors where she advocates for a quality education for all students in Nevada. She spent her Spring Break in 2011 at the Nevada Legislature lobbying 6 Republican and 19 Democratic Legislators on education funding.
Can Republicans at least take a lesson in this, and get more attractive people to volunteer for the national campaign...
Some that are better looking (easier on the eyes) than in post #9???
Just a suggestion...

Public funds are political funds, and political funds are spent politically.
Are schools political places? Yes, more and more.
Here locally there’s a raquet called, “service learning” -students get credit for whoring themselves out to local liberal charities —getting people on the dole, signing them up for housing, and so on.
Is it a public college that does this? YEP...!
The University system is NOT out to help students —it’s out to help the Welfare State.
Well I guess it’s okay to get paid one way or another so where do I sign up on the R side?
We got to get with the game.
She wouldn't comment on her own promotion of a political position and student activism as part of the school curriculum.
I asked if there was a program offered for students to support opposition candidates. She stated that if students requested to assist with Republican campaigns they would be provided with the appropriate phone numbers. Of course, no conservative political options are automatically offered.
As I pressed her further, asking how it is a service to the community to reelect a man who is opposed to the U.S. constitution. She said that was only my opinion. When I quoted Obama's own words about the constitution being a deeply flawed document, etc. she became frustrated and repeated the previous answer. I asked about conflict of interest, she would not answer but continued with the aforementioned talking point, then said she was ending the call and hung up.
In other words, the typical "debate" with a lefty.
Find out who the brown shirts are and ridicule them and their commie parents. That will take the cool out of it real quick.
