If this is my FR swan song, my opus, so be it. That's not my intention.

I’m still not sure how conservatives win by voting for liberals.

I read a stunning voter analysis once

It showed that democrap voting is very consistant- they always get just about the exact same turnout, every election.

So when republican turnout is strong, they lose
When Republicans stay how we lose

SO GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

Write-in Palin if you cannot hold your nose and vote for Romney, but DO NOT STAY HOME!!! A GOP majority in Congress is more important this election

Besides, I would almost rather see Obama stuck with a VETO-PROOF GOP majority to cram health care down his throat, then a Romney democrap-lite presidency with a GOP congress giving him everything he wants just because he is GOP

And Rmney has not said he will repeal Obamacare- only “the more onerous parts of it” (he said it on Hannity, and even Hnnity missed it.

‘Conservatives are at it again: shooting our own.’

ORomney is a democrat, not a republican. He’s not one of ‘our own’.

‘When Conservatives decide not to vote for Republican candidates, Republicans lose. Conservatives lose. The Democrats, socialists, and atheists win. Obama wins.’

The ‘logic’ escapes me. He’s not a republican and his agenda is little different than Barry’s. Either way the country is harmed. For sure ORomney isn’t about to mess w/ anything Barry has done and he’s quite likely to add to them. So, how is voting for one any different than the other??? I think its all about party not country. If ORomney is elected the joy will be short lived...

I will end up holding my nose in this election, but to say that conservatives settling for moderates in the past have been 'successes' I'd encourage you to think again.

Under both parties this train has been heading in only one direction - towards centralized socialism. The best we can hope for with the current apparent nominee is a temporary deceleration. Lets not pretend otherwise.

To anyone refusing to vote for mittens (i.e., against Obama) .....

What would it take for you to support the ticket? Who would have to be VP? Anyone particular?

It seems to come down to this. Romney is running on a conservative platform, but some/many conservatives don’t believe him and think he’s a liar who will govern as a liberal.

It is just my guess he would not swing from conservative to liberal positions. People can disagree.

Looking at the platforms of the two candidates Obama/Romney it is night and day.

Obama is all in on leftism at this point. If reelected it will be a nightmare.

Since '88 the GOPe has given us weak candidates that either lose because everyone sees them for the squishes that they are (Dole, McCain, Romney...) or when they do win they do not deliver as promised (2010 as an example).

Why should I continue to support a party that continually fails due to lack of effort?

Interesting.

Well, I’ll vote for Santorum when it gets o CA but it will be all over but the shouting.

This year, I sit out. They want me back? Stop pandering and holding noses. No more fear voting for me.

Santorum 2012

Everyone is leaving out the main factor. The ‘establishment’ has no power and we wouldnt get rinos if it werent for millions of people empowering them. We cant blame anyone but ourselves for that. Time for a new activism strategy, not aimed at politicians but at the people.

You, like so many, are missing the point this election.

Get good House candidates on the ballots and conservatives will show up.
While they’re at the polls they’ll-reluctantly- cast a vote for Romney.

RINOs get the Presidency, ‘moderates’ get the Senate, conservatives get the House and everyone’s happy.

It’s called ‘compromise’ and RINOs should learn it.

Presidents come and Presidents go, but Congress hangs around longer than a broke brother-in-law. We need to focus on electing whoever the nominee is and ensuring he has a TEA Party Congress to keep him in line.

This won’t stop the ‘tards in here from shooting themselves in the foot (or head, pick one).

They insist on electing Obama because they read something on some wingnut site about Romney (despite it being a complete lie).

Whatever, the rest of us grown ups will fight the good fight while they pitch a fit in the corner.

Now bring on the usual insults. Come get some, keyboard kommandos.

If the Republicans want us to vote for them, then they need to give us somebody worth voting for.

It’s not “shooting your own” when the nominee isn’t one of your own.

This article demonstrates what conservatives are fed up with. Conservatives have been team players for the Republicans, but the republicans have not reciprocated over the years. They have continued to grow the government and participated with the progressive agenda under the auspices of “reaching across party lines.”

People who have learned the truth over time, are putting their foot down. The Republican party will not use me this time. I don’t care about their victory in the least. Republicans should have realized that one day they would have to “pay the piper.” That day has come.

Here are a few links you can enjoy to educate yourself.

The country can burn, and probably will, but I will not vote for Romney. OR Obama. They are both demons (h/t Psalm144).

Romney will make things worse at a slightly slower rate than Obama.

I read this on a thread yesterday:

...Vote conservative only, No RINOs. Support all your local conservative candidates. Get involved with your local GOP committee and help the conservatives take it over. Write to the GOP and tell them why you don’t support Romney and candidates like him and this is why you no longer send them money. Don’t fall for RINOs for any reason, they do not support you or your conservative values. And don’t be swayed by those who say RINOs are somehow preferable to Dems, they’re not. They’re just as bad, even worse, because they’re frauds...

I’m paraphrasing, but that’s the gist of it. Jim Robinson posted it. It’s a call to action, and it is a sound conservative position. Nowhere does it say to not vote, on the contrary, it calls for activism and involvement.
