Got my surgery date today, in just 2 weeks.
I am a bit scared by all this.
We have had a bad month past. My mother now has cancer, although the good news is that it was very minor and the doctors think she can simply keep it at bay by taking oral medication.
At the same time it seemed my 11yo dog was really falling apart, getting even worse than she's been this summer. We are still struggling with her (long history of inherent issues) although she has gotten better from her "potty problem".
Labor Day weekend I had to go the the ER. I felt better as I was there (all day), but they told me I had a huge "cyst" in my gut. So after a whirlwind of doctor visits and testing visits, here I am with the prospect of major surgery.
Even if I don't have cancer, I am scared of the surgery itself and the aftermath - am I going to have diarrhea constantly thanks to removing part of my colon? Have blockages needing more major help? It's just all scary.
I have a 5yo son who just started school, and a mother who just had her heart broken because my sister died last year. We really do not need this. In addition my father (I'm his only child) and my husband.
I'm just asking for prayers. I hate to ask on my own behalf, it feels selfish. I've asked for others such as my sister. But I have to do something.

Prayers Up!!
Prayers up.
Prayers up! Heavenly Father ease your servant’s fears. Calm and strengthen her and her family for what lies ahead. Guide the surgeons hands and minds, may the surgery be successful and grant her a speedy and full recovery.
We ask this in Jesus Name
AMEN
May the Good Lord be by your side....
prayers done, dude. Relax, God wants you to live to battle the evil Kenyan.
I will say a prayer for you.
But remember, a “cyst” is not cancer. It is usually some sort of infection between a couple of layers of tissue. I had one in my cheek—yeah...between the roots of my teeth and the nasal cavity. Scared the be-jesus out of me. But it was handled and there has been no after effect.
As Slick-Willie used to say, “I feel your pain.” But...if the Drs do not seem “panicked” then you should not. If it were REAL serious, you would not have had to wait for a couple of weeks.
That said, I will keep you, your mom, and your dog in my prayers.
Father, YOU're the Great Physician and YOU know the outcome ... WE're agreeing in prayer that Reb's cyst is not dangerous or cancerous and the surgery would be successful ... in Jesus name, Amen
Amen.
God bless you Rebel. prayers winging away. Lord, please guide the good doctors.
I know it's scary. Please hang in there.

Prayers for your successful treatment and a quick recovery. Prayers for your peace of mind and for your family.
Prayers for you, your mother and family and that all goes well.
Thanks, but the surgeon is iffy, and the 2nd-opinion (over the phone) was in agreement as to how to proceed. The “cyst” thing seems like it is really just a guess. They think it is somehow directly related to my appendix, either IS my appendix or comes from it and envelopes it, etc. There is some uncertainty.
The other thing that seemed to concern the surgeon was the CgA level from blood. It is very high, but OTOH I have been taking Nexium 2x day for 7 years, and supposedly that is another reason for high CgA.
Sometimes I feel it’s impossible. I had a clean-as-whistle colonoscopy the month prior to this garbage. Yes, that includes biopsy taken at the ileum which they will be eliminating.
Even so, the uncertainty of all of it makes us nervous. And the doctor is not exactly “Cancer? Get out of here!” (-George Costanza) He seems quite concerned all the time.
And I already said the surgery itself is scary, and recovery and long-term effects!
Thanks everyone for helping me on this!
Prayers for you and a successful surgery. They can do remarkable things now in these kinds of surgeries. I had cancer on my appendix that was found when it burst a few years ago. I had 1/3 of my colon removed. Doing fine now. No horrible bags and no diarrhea, except if I drink red wine....lol. Not sure why that does me in now but it does. I do exercise on treadmill at least 5 times per week and try to eat right most days, which helps. Will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Storming heaven!! God Bless you!!
I am so sorry for all your troubles. Prayers for all.
Prayers up for you and yours.
