and not let the hospital ‘miss’ the Ebola he knew about?

If you had what you thought were cancer symptoms by doing Dr. Google and your doctor said no you didn't you would think whew glad it's not what I thought. It would be easy for someone from Liberia to think any ER in the US will deliver the absolute definitive diagnosis.

FYI ALL: Recently the UN put out an alert that people with symptoms of Ebola should not take 'Ibuprofen' nor medications like it because ....it causes bleeding to worsen.

I believe possible they've issued this alert because infected people are masking their fevers throughout Africa, and at airports, while passing through checkpoints so they won't be stopped........ I believe this is likely what Duncan did.

I had read today that Duncan took Aspirin before boarding the flight so that he would show no sign of fever..makes you wonder how many others will come up with the same idea..after all as long as you don’t have fever your allowed to pass through no problem..meanwhile Obama banned all flights to Israel during their war with Hamas because of ONE rocket that got near the airport but he won’t stop flights filled with Ebola infected people

Is the Sept 2 ticket purchase date a fact? .....or obfuscation?

I haven't seen it refuted.

In any case, getting exposed to Ebola, obtaining a visa to the US, and procuring tickets would be a lot to accomplish in three or four days.

Oh of course I would. I would hop on a plane and travel straight to my family. My husband, my kids, their little friends and my grandkids too.

While many people may say to heck with the rest of the world and hop a plane to the US how many would go home to infect their families? Home would have been the last place I would have headed to once I got here. Think about that.

I am so sick of hearing the comments about we would do the same thing or we can’t blame him or we understand. No, not all of us would have done the same thing, I do blame him and I do not understand anyone that would do what he did.

And if I knew in my heart I would have done the same thing I’d keep it to myself. Out of shame.

The one in NC I think it was, that supposedly called the CDC himself because the hospital didn’t admit Mr Duncan right away.

It was Duncan's girlfriend's daughter, Youngor Jallah, who got him admitted:

She took his temperature — 102 degrees.

“I’m going to call an ambulance,” she said.

Duncan tried to resist. He had been to the hospital once already, several days earlier, and all they had done was send him home with antibiotics. Jallah didn’t listen to him. She dialed 911.

“My daddy is going to the bathroom constantly,” she told the operator, referring to Duncan, whom she considers her stepfather.

Fifteen minutes later, two paramedics knocked on the door. Jallah greeted the two men but told them that they couldn’t enter until they put on gloves and facemasks.

Don’t forget the COUNTY JUDGE (county executive in Texanese) who walked Mr. Duncan’s roommates out of the apartment in his civilian clothes.

“In any case, getting exposed to Ebola, obtaining a visa to the US, and procuring tickets would be a lot to accomplish in three or four days.”

So, he most likely applied for and got the visa well in advance, then purchased the ticket on the 2nd, with the ticket being for a specific flight (day and time), then was exposed to Ebola a day or two before his flight was scheduled, and then boarded as per.......?

I agree with everything in your post.

The other possibility that many seem to be overlooking in this whole scenario is that although we in the US are continually tracking the entire Ebola outbreak minute-by-minute, that may not be the case in Liberia.

The population in Liberia in 4.4 million, and the known Ebola cases are roughly 3800. That is a very minute percentage of the total population, and they aren’t sitting at their computers or in front of their tv’s watching this horror unfold.

Many just don’t take exposure as seriously as we do because it is still somewhat rare until it actually hits in that area.

Look at Duncan’s behavior while still in Liberia: If he were really convinced that the woman he helped had Ebola, you would think he would have taken more precautions, but he didn’t. He may not have thought he was seriously at risk until the other family member came down with Ebola and died (the brother of the pregnant woman).

I don’t know if that’s actually the case, but it seems like a real possibility.

I knew she was the one that called 911 and had been caring for him after he 1st started showing the symptoms but the Nephew has been claiming he called the CDC to report it.

I know he has been front and center with the interviews and seams to pretty well be in the loop even though he is out of state.

Cynwoody, you are full of common sense. Also, four days is pretty soon to start showing symptoms—possible, but not probable.

According to what I've seen, his exposure was on the 15th, helping his landlords transport their sick, pregnant daughter to the hospital. His departure was on the evening of the 18th on Brussels Air 1246.

Thanks. I would only wonder then, if the ticket he purchased on Sept 2 was for a Sept 18 departure, or if he changed it to the 18th after the 15th (day of exposure).

Did he come to the United States because he had Ebola? He certainly did not have Ebola on Sept 2 when he purchased the ticket. The question should be, did he give himself Ebola because he was coming to the United States? I don’t think so.
