Is it because you're seeing the genuine light from the stars? Don't forget, light from remote objects like stars takes a long time time to get here. And so we're actually seeing them as they were in the past. Not that they've likely changed very much since the light left them.
It’s the beauty.
I guess you could say that a photon does not experience time, since it’s going at the speed of light.
That is a real worm can opener there! So many different ways of interpreting what goes on in the realm of quantum mechanics. But, yes, according to Einstein, there is no time (via time dilation), or distance to travel (via length contraction), for objects (with mass) traveling precisely at the speed of light. At least that is how the equations would work out if you substituted "c" for "v".
I picked up an old Meade from a thrift and checked out Jupiter. Unfortunately, it is so bright there is no detail to be seen, just a blinding disc.
Interesting - thanks
When picking up missing eyepieces and stuff for the Meade, I read that to see the detail on Jupiter and Saturn, some sort of filter is needed. Both to bring out the color and to dim it down a bit.
I doubt my cheap Vivitar has that but we’ll see what I get.
Same problem viewing the fully lit moon, just too bright, have to look at the boundary of sunlit areas.
Folks in the west if they want to see it have about 1.5 or so hours left.
Look west at about 40 degrees up from horizon. You can’t miss it.
This probably should have been in news. It won’t happen again for a looong time.
Note: this topic is from . Thanks Brad from Tennessee and gleeaikin.

2015?
That really is interesting that some people have never seen stars before.
