"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is no stranger to controversy, but his comments at his last rally before the Iowa caucuses begin has shocked and offended many combat veterans.
At the event in Cedar Rapids, Trump described for the crowd a conversation he had had with a young man who had served two tours of duty in the Middle East, according to a report from Buzzfeed. This veteran told Trump that the "enemy" had stolen a lot of American military equipment, including armor-plated Humvees.
What Trump said next set Twitter ablaze: Trump claimed that the armor on these vehicles was strong enough that if a bomb went off, the people inside would be "okay" and just "go for a little ride upward and then they come down."

A flood of combat veterans began sharing their own experiences about how IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and other bombs had caused serious injuries to themselves or their fellow service members, or even resulted in deaths."
Trump's comment that troops in armored vehicles simply "go for a little ride" after being hit by an IED shows a complete lack of understanding of the threats faced by American troops. Thousands of troops have been killed in armored vehicles hit by IEDs, and over 1,500 of us have lost at least one limb. Those of us who were lucky took "a little ride" to Walter Reed Army Medical Center or elsewhere for treatment. The unlucky ones took "a little ride" to Arlington cemetery.

Trump rides in his Cadillac that probably is outfitted for security.
When he goes over a speed bump in NY he's okay cuz he just went for a little ride upward and then he comes down.
Trump may have exaggerated a little but the point he was making is that we gave “our partners” better equipment than we gave our troops. And when it came time they ran away from the fight and gave the equipment to ISIS.
My son rode a Hummer down many a street in Sadr city, and sweated every mile. Any IUD could have done as much damage to his vehicle as it would to Trump’ limo.
Well, when we fact check, we will find the Vets will have voted for Trump.
My prayer has been for The Donald to keep his yap on wide open for all the world to hear.

IT is NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING compared to what these guys have and it still SUCKS!!!! i can live 85 or 80 percent of my old life, these guys many cant live 20 percent of their old lives!!
the Humvees were NOT protective because that sinsister #### Rumsfeld said you go to war with the army you have, not the one you want.
we didn’t go into Iraq overnight and there WERE protective Humvees that could have been made.
WTH!!!! weren’t these men worth it!!???
their heads were jarred so bad in those “up and down” humvee jumps, that they got tinnitus, dizziness, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, night terrors, tremors, men problems, dizziness, surreal foggy in and out feelings, and they are HORRIBLE.
and the worst cant even recognize their families anymore!!!
Trump has said many good things, but he needs to take this back fast and apologize if this is true!!!!!
I donate to FR, the Vets, and my cousin’s illness, equally.
Because FR can prevent more Vet deaths by getting a strong man elected. Countries dont mess with strong presidents.
And HEAD INJURED VETS are my cause!!!!!
they are in their 30s!!! some of them, and their wives and kids have to take care of them for life!!!!!!

kick the lazy @#$@#$ off welfare and foot stamps and section 8. Half are drug addicts who sell the stamps for half price to grocers, i saw it and heard it in my cab all the time!!!!

I genuinely fear for the Republic. Trump is an idiot. Cruz would by the Supreme Court ultimately be deemed not a natural born citizen. And Rubio would yet prove incompetent to regain our sovereignty.
