“from a field which at its’ apex had seventeen from the GOP and five from the Dems”

“...its’” should be “its”.
“...had seventeen from...” should be “17”. If larger than nine, numerals are used. Only one through nine are spelled.
“two on the Democrat from a field which at its’ apex had...” Should be “from a field which, at its apex, had...” Should have commas setting apart the appositive phrase.

And that’s just the first sentence. Shall I continue?
