Thomas Jefferson famously adapted key passages of John Locke’s Second Treatise in his draft Declaration of Independence.

And more importantly, Locke's Second Treatise is the basis for our government design, with a House where all legislation concerning money begins, a Senate which acts as a check on the House, an executive that goes one step beyond Locke (he didn't mind having a monarch there)that is to administer the laws, and a judiciary to ensure that negative rights (life, liberty, property) are not trampled upon. It is the best government for a free people, but the people have to want to be free, enough to give up their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor when necessary.

The complicity of media and oligarchy have deliberately created an intellectual wastland among the common man. Both the democrat and the republican parties are complicit in this destruction of the intellectual foundation of the nation. Colonialists were better read.
The advent of marxism has created a global death of intellectual and historical activity. This is little more than the gangsterism of government officials. The current age is the bloodiest and the most tyrannical of any 100 years in human history.
