He may be the power behind the throne but the Dems will still need to run someone, if for nothing more than a figurehead. And therein lies the rub. Who has both the ability to go through a grueling Presidential campaign and the bona fides to convince people to vote for him or her, and upon winning the Presidency to willingly turn over power to Obama? I agree with you that the faithful will do as they’re told. For years the phrase “yellow-dog Democrat” was rule of law in my state. But to win the election both sides have to court that 20% bloc of swing voters that determine the winner, and I don’t believe you’ll be able to do that with a poster cutout. It’ll take a real person, someone with the drive and ego necessary to actually become President to carry off this charade. And I don’t think that’s the sort of person that would give it all up and in effect play golf for 4 years...
