Yep. And money in this case (coming from the U.S. and Trump—as he is a fantastic negotiator) also means control. We will definitely have a solid controlling interest in North Korea if this pans out with Kim.

Funny, but isn’t that what Obama did for Iran?

Clinton/Carter gave them a “commercial nuclear power” program to stop their military nuke program.

“Samsung, Hyundai and Daewoo should be funding this proposal. They all have multi-billion dollar assets in and around Seoul.”

N. Korea could become the next low cost manufacturing economy. China, Vietnam, are no longer sources of cheap labor.

We have to ask is SK ready for re-unification? 25,610,672 North Koreans will need to be fed, clothed, re-educated, etc. The re-education part alone is going to be staggering.

The burden is going to fall on their shoulders.

This is nuts!

We gave a bunch of the Shah’s money back to the Iranian terrorist Mullahs, and they instantly destabilized the entire Middle East.

Now, Trump wants to give money to the Kim family, like the previous three presidents did?

The Kim family has been enslaving, starving, murdering, and terrorizing the North Korean population for seven decades.

We should be calling for the arrest of Boy Kim, and confiscate all his assets.

But the Japanese just found some incredible supplies on the sea bed, and its good for several hundred years at current rates of usage

That find is 100 km from their nearest (tiny) island, 1000km from mainland Japan and is on the ocean floor a couple km beneath the surface. That find. is NOT going to be easy or cheap to collect! Even starting from the low Nork level of infrastructure that's got to be cheaper to exploit. And there would be plenty of relatively cheap (even if we provide food and paid 5x Kim's wages) unskilled labor available.

Gotta open the country up with a sense of stability first - then there will be plenty of businesses wanting to get the initial footholds.....

Yep - help feed them, give them avenues to at least basic medical care and negotiate for businesses to invest and in a decade they won’t recognize their country.....hope Kim follows through.

Yea, me as well. Kim can stay in charge but our DOD must be there to take care of the transition.

He can call it a mutual understanding of power and take credit for everything.

That is part of what Trump does in a deal. He enlarges the negotiating board in order to include enough of what his trading partner wants (and he can get in return) to get a it done.
