I’d suddenly come up with a busload of accusers all of which were minors (35 years ago).
They would all claim that when she babysat with them (35 years ago) she touched them in their”special place”.
Sure there’s no time or place or evidence and they want to remain anonymous but they have to be believed, damit !
You seem to be suggesting that women are fully human and thus subject to human flaws.
Steal an illegal aliens ID and receive protected status.

Apologize, tell them they are mistaken and move along.
If they continue, have your lawyer demand a letter of apology, and if not given, sue them for harassment, slander or defamation, whatever fits.

Here, a male teacher was accused of kissing (and maybe not even that) a female student. After the sheriff’s dept. and the Austin, TX local news made his life a living hell for over a year, he blew his brains out. The girl then admitted she’d lied and her family had to move away.
Of course, the reporter still has her job and the sheriff’s dept. promptly washed it’s hands of the case. At the time, I would constantly correct the reporter’s statements on the news website but it did no good and I still curse the tv every time her ugly mug is on.
STFU, hire a lawyer, and sue for defamation of character because there is no evidence. The money he will lose from being prevented from being appointed to the SCOTUS be the amount for the suit.
I would demand a live recreation of the alleged incident by the original participants...to help jog my memory.
I’d laugh at anyone who made up stuff about me. I never did anything in HS and everyone there knows it. It was redneck central and nothing for the kids to do but party. There were two in my class who didn’t drink and I was one of them.

It’s what I’ve never understood: If being investigated for a security clearance or a job position, just tell the truth. It will go much worse for you if they find you out in a lie, and after multiple investigations, the chances of remembering what lie you told when become impossible...
My unsolicited $0.02? I think that this will eventually percolate down into the personal/private sector. It won't be some crazy ex-girlfriend from the past scuppering a Supreme Court Nomination, or a high-level appointment, or high-profile job....
...It will be some nutcase who overheard you say something that they disagreed with showing up at your work with a half-dozen of their like-minded friends. Calling your boss. Hassling your co-workers. Your Wife and Kids. Church. Other things that are of personal value to you. Some places, it would be no big deal. Others - like work - just won't want the hassle, and it will be easier to terminate you rather than deal with it.
A FReeper wiser than I once said "You will be made to care." They were right, and it won't end well.

While the employee I mentioned was found innocent and he got his job back, the following year, Nov. 2006, the plant closed down and the following summer Andy hung himself......
