Tuesday on CNN International’s “Amanpour,” former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said cultural changes like gay marriage caused the right in America to “seek the kind of leadership that will limit freedom.”
Clinton said, “Why is it when the world, and in particularly the West, is by any measure richer and safer and healthier and stronger, what is giving rise to these yearnings not for greater freedom and democracy that lives up to its name—where you don’t try to throw voters out of the role, but you want everyone to vote, what is it that is motivating large numbers of people to seek the kind of leadership that will limit freedom? Starting with the press, academia, political parties. And why is it so many people on the right, in the United States and Europe, look to Putin, a known authoritarian, someone who has journalists and political opponents murdered with impunity? What is going on in the minds of 21st century Americans and Europeans that would lead them to say, ‘You know, I just want to have security, stability? I think we need a strong leader.'”

And chronic untreated/ignored alcohol abuse also can put a person into a sort-of time compression. So she might think the 2016 Election was just a short time ago.
On the other hand, even at this late date, HRC must do the bidding of handlers. Except for tidbits here and there, it’s all talking points from above her pay grade, probably rehearsed on-camera over and over, then edited to take out the coughing and “mis-spokes”.

I can assure her “fear of gay marriage” wasn’t in the list of the top 100 reasons why we voted for Trump.
She already has 25,857 reasons why she thinks she lost the election, none of which have anything to do with her, of course.
Gays give a lot of money to the the party and Hillary wanted that money.
I suspect the campaign contributions, plus Robby Mook and other staffers, gave her an exaggerated view of what playing up to the gay lobby could do for her in 2016.
The irony is that if she ran the campaign she did in the 2008 primaries, going after rural Whites who weren't crazy about Obama, she might have won in 2016.
But she got her head turned around by the perception that the country was changing faster than it really was.
I don’t care if it is the gays—the other perverts that like little children or whatever.

Anybody who read Gary Aldrich's book about the change in White House culture upon the arrival of the Clintons knew it two decades ago.
