US Embassy issued an alert for more Islamic attacks on Churches/places of worship, April 26 - 28th.
N Korea
Kim/Putin meeting pretty much meh. Kim asked Putin to relay that NK wants security assurances - same stuff they directly asked the US.
Kim also gives new meaning to the term “you’re fired”. Four NK officials have reportedly been shot for the failed NK/US summit.
Venezuela
Reports of increasing defections of military to adjacent countries, primarily Colombia and Brazil. All ranks involved.
US/Mexico border
Reports releasing 1,700 illegals daily. Matters going way beyond critical mass. Some effort by Mexico to stem the flood from central America, but many ways around it.

ISIS/Terror
Abundant rumors out there with ISIS threats, etc. Sri Lankan security opened up a number of dens of horror - explosive/IED vests, etc over the weekend. Terror groups deeply entrenched there. Will operations by cells start here and elsewhere in the west? Historically, a lot of the calls by AQ and later ISIS were just hot air. However, with battle hardened jihadists stealthily returning to the west, the potential for a strike is increasing
Iran
Threatening to withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty - as if they were ever serious about it in the first place.
RUMINT - seeing numerous reports that Iranian forces in eastern Syria observed ‘unidentified’ aircraft over their areas and fled. They claim they were not Russian, Syrian or Iranian. Given that the USAF has iconic aircraft (C5, C17, B52, etc) that they couldn’t identify those airframes either. Further - RUMINT reports UI ground units in the area. Weirdness or have the aliens arrived.
Libya
Civil war has reached quagmire with house to house fighting in settlements surrounding Tripoli. Neither side appears to have any advantage at the moment.

Venezuela - BREAKING
Juan Guaido had called for the overthrow of Maduras and is leading elements of the Venezuela military in a coup attempt. He has called for the people to come into the streets in support. News is very confusing because Maduras has ordered the internet essentially shut down to prevent opposition coordination. However, reports seem to bear out that people are starting to stream into the streets. There are reports of tear gas and gunfire in suburbs of Caracas.
Guaido has called the protests “operation freedom”. Supporting military are wearing blue arm bands. It was announced at Air Base “La Carlota” which is currently open for supporters to enter. There are reports that ‘collectivos” - biker gangsters supporting Madura - have attacked the airbase and Guaido supporters.
President Trump reportedly has been briefed on the situation and is having events there monitored closely. Unknown at this time what any US response may be. Absent carrier strike group presence, IF US begins military operations I would expect rapid deployment forces of either the 82d or 101st to be brought into forward operating bases in Colombia that have been prepared for months.
ANTIFA
FBI investigating reports that an antifa group tried to contact narcoterrorist cartels in Mexico to obtain weapons for a border uprising. Following getting their arses handed to them in recent confrontations with those to the right of their politics (virtually everyone in the country), they have gone increasingly to becoming armed. Developing.

Ongoing events Venezuela
Reports suggest that the National Guard under Madura is reluctant to engage civilians and in many instances being reported as backing away.
Real violence seems to focus on the “collectivos” - motorcycle gangs loyal to Maduras.
In addition to interrupting internet, rumors indicate that regular broadcasting (radio and tv) are being interrupted. Public transportation has also been locally suspended in and around Caracas.
Watching for Russian/China/Cuba responses and reactions. None have popped up that ive seen yet
Venezuela - On Going
Violence is reported to be escalating and spreading. Video of Madera faction armored vehicles (they call “tankettes”) running over protestors at the air base, reportedly injuring 6. Protestors have responded with Molotov cocktails and forced the vehicles back.
Russia foreign ministry has reportedly announced they are monitoring the situation.

President Trump moved to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror group following a visit from the president of Egypt earlier this month.
The designation would impose severe travel and economic sanctions on those who associate with the group, which has millions of members across the Middle East. Trump has asked his administration to figure out a way to make the designation happen, The New York Times reports.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the news, which the New York Times reports has sparked internal debate in the administration. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security advisor John Bolton support the move, while others at the Pentagon are opposed and are working to propose a more moderate action.
The group is politically opposed to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Sisi asked Trump to join his country in designating them a terror group when the two talked in an April 9 meeting at the White House. Trump reacted positively to the idea, saying it would make sense for the U.S. to make the designation, and some of his aides reportedly interpreted his response as a commitment.
The move would be complicated because of the Muslim Brotherhood’s size and reach, including into the United States. Some political parties associate loosely with the group, but disavow its violent extremism. The designation could also strain already tense relations with Turkey, whose president is an avid supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood. Americans would likely be caught up in the move as well, and American humanitarian organizations affiliated with the group.
Seven countries, including Russia and Saudi Arabia, have made the designation. The sanctions imposed would punish those who fund the group or provide banking services, and ban members or those with ties to the group from entering the United States.

Venezuela
Looks like Madura has ridden this one out. Rule number one is that when you are going to overthrow the king - you got to make sure you kill him. Guiado overplayed his hand. Expect continued sporadic violence to continue.
This morning Pompeo stated that the US military option is still on the table. Commercial airlines have been warned away from airspace over Venezuela. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan will NOT be traveling to Europe today as planned so he can reportedly focus on Venezuela. USS Dwight D. Eisenhower last reported off the east coast moving east, in an apparent maneuver to avoid a strong tropical storm coming up the east coast. Any military option apart from rapid, sudden deployment of the RDF 82d and 101st seems unlikely at this time. (however note, Guiado supporters control a military airfield that could facilitate insertion of US forces.

Tension still in capitol as both sides continue the standoff. Madero called for his troops to kill all opponents. Short of outside intervention, Guaido’s coup will fail.
RUMINT of two carrier strike groups headed to region, but rate as doubtful at this time. Fresh threats to Russia and Cuba to keep out of it have been so far ignored.

RUMINT - a lot of speculation in / from Venezuela that foreign military intervention is eminent. Sources I look at are trying to confirm. If this happens one option is adjoining military (Colombia and Brazil) would act with US support and cover. Alternative would be deploying 82d or 101st with the locals. I have no info on carriers at the moment. Pay attention to any uptick in activity at Ft Bragg.
Iran
US slapped greater measures but didn’t go for the jugular. Increased potential for “incidents” particularly in the Persian gulf.
Terror
Ramadan will soon be starting with potential for increased terror globally.
