In Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy must tread carefully or may end up facing another Maidan uprising
Conversation by Yahoo ^ | November 11, 2019 | Stefan Wolff

It’s been six years since the start of the Euromaidan revolution in Ukraine, which led to the ousting of then-President Viktor Yanukovych. By the time his successor Petro Poroshenko was elected in May 2014, the domestic political scene in Ukraine and the geopolitical dynamics in the contested EU-Russia neighbourhood surrounding it had fundamentally altered.

Today, the country’s new president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who replaced Poroshenko in April 2019, is now facing a series of domestic and foreign policy challenges reminiscent, though not identical, to the events that preceded the 2013 Euromaidan.

Presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine in April and July 2019 created a political situation in Ukraine with an unprecedented concentration of political power. Zelenskiy and his Servant of the People party have a majority in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, and so complete control over the appointment of the government. The president also separately appointed the prosecutor general, the minister of foreign affairs and the minister of defence.

I was thinking the same question.

The fake news is putting out hits on anyone that stands in the way of the coup.

Jim Jordan and one other conservative are just the latest examples.

These ‘blackhats’ will stop at nothing to grab or regain power.

More like a shot across the bow but things are ugly there.

Things are always ugly there.

Since the beginning of the Soviet era Ukrainians have never been given a chance to run their lives because unfortunately they are not sophisticated when it comes to banking and politics..

They are very strong physically, very honest, actually tremendously honest. I am talking about the ordinary Ukrainian. They are God-fearing and devoted to their Church.

But their mindset is that of the hard working farmer and if given stable conditions, they can get rich off of farming. And as they become rich and robust, they will grow in sophistication about how to rule themselves.

The problem is they can never get there because so-called rulers are corrupt and always sell them out. The ordinary Ukrainian is abused and taken for a fool. But when they look to reform they look at who can take power and again they fall for sweet words rather than experience because they have none. They could get the experience if they could get stability. It’s a chicken and egg problem.

Zelensky has a chance with President Trump to turn it all around and get rid of the corruption.

But unfortunately look who was in on the corruption from the American side.

Zelensky needs to hang in there and learn the Trump philosophy which is:

NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP! NEVER!

In fact the Soviets left them a highly sophisticated manufacturing economy in 1991. They were number 5 in Europe at the time.

It was not at all sophisticated but even if it was it was ripped off by those that lied to their simple values buying their shares at a penny on the dollar and selling off the physical assets to traders in Pakistan.

You either don’t know the complete history or are omitting it in favor of an agenda.

The fact is that Ukraine was once the breadbasket of Europe and can be again but first there must be political stability which has been elusive for them. But now they have a chance.

“They’re already trying to suggest that this guy is on his way out??”

If there is any possibility of him helping Trump, I’m afraid the “International Community™” is going to demand his removal if not his assassination.

Nobody believes these “color revolutions” are anything but Deep State interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

Moscow engineers directed their assembly ops. Once the Sovoiets pulled out, the factories were sold off piece by piece by the very same corrupt groups that Trump-Zelesky are working to get rid of.

The Soviet factories in Ukraine are irrelevant. Without Moscow engineers and managers, the Ukrainians had no idea what to do.

Ukrainians are farmers by history and good ones at that. Farming is their natural economic base. Sophistication in industrial pursuits can follow once their natural base is resurrected and profitable.

First things first.

Russia experienced the same sort of looting by globalists in 1990s and was able to revert it in a sense.
Ukraine was still a manufacturing country in 2014. Breadbasket is not a badge of honor. Name me one populous country getting rich out of agriculture. There is no such country.

I disagree. Advanced agriculture is not only a badge of honor but forms the foundation for industrial prosperity and a stable society.

The country that is the number one economic power in the world with advanced agriculture as its foundation and all the infrastructure that goes with it is a country called ...

... The United States of America.
