I think he was being not exactly sarcastic but was sort of musing in a “wow, wouldn’t it be great,” “far out” type of way. LIke “wow, if we had something that disinfected us from the inside out, etc.”.
However, what he needs to remember is that the press is waiting to take anything he says and twist it into a weapon. Sometimes they do it by misrepresenting his remark, sometimes they do it by using only a partial quote, etc. So yeah, I wish he’d be more careful too. But at the same time, no matter what he says, they’ll find a way of twisting it.
To me, this time it is on him. It was a dumb thing to say. They are going to come after him with pitchforks on fire tonight and I hope he has the world's most sensitive verbal extinguisher at the ready.
Of course virtually everyone here will vote for Trump. And we rightfully think it's insane that anyone even considers voting for Biden. But we can't (and Trump can't) put blinders on to the fact the many in this country are very easy manipulated by the media. Trump can't go giving the media fodder to attack him with that will translate into lost votes.
