Never, ever approach a horse from behind. Be better, city people”””

I have owned horses for over 35 years. I know them all pretty ell. I have had as many as 6 at one time.

I NEVER just walk up behind any of them. When I am round them, placing a saddle girth or whatever, I TRAIL A HAND along their body as I move back & forth.

The ONLY time I have ever been kicked was when I was giving a shot to a horse & I accidently ‘nerved him’ in the rump. One mild kick-—I was into the woodpile. Kick didn’t damage me, but landing in wood pile broke a wrist. I owned that horse for over 22 years, and that is the only time he ever kicked.
