One of the best scenes ever, was when Lionel Jefferson called out Meathead for only wanting to talk about racial issues with him. The best quote, “Why don’t we ever talk about the weather? You know, black people have weather, too.”
Amazing stuff. I always remember when meathead was arguing with Archie about their fathers, and meathead kept saying ‘your father was wrong’.. At the end, meathead said goodnight shoebootie, great stuff.

BRILLIANT! And it pinpoints the ironclad behavioral straitjacket, just beginning but still well underway back then half a century ago: just can’t talk to blacks without making it all “identity politics”.
