Wait a minute.
I live in PA and know a bit about the mail-in ballot process here. Your ballot goes into a “secrecy envelope” which goes into a mail envelope. The secrecy envelope is to keep anyone from seeing how you voted until poll workers at your polling place open it for the count on Election Day.
These ballots 1) should have been delivered to their rightful polling places to be counted, and 2) should not have been opened by whoever found them under penalty of law.
Something about this story does not pass the smell test.
That may have been accomplished and the result was finding out who they were for not who cast the vote so privacy was maintained.
You are assuming the secrecy envelope was sealed. You just don’t “smell” very good! :). (It’s not often one gets to say that.)
To me, it points to a mail carrier, one who sees and knows what type lives where, by mail type and maybe yard signs — retiree here, military there. Trump supporter here.
I could postulate that the ballots were opened by the perpetrator and the Biden votes were kept and the Trump votes tossed. But to your point, why not just burn the Trump ballots and leave no evidence?
The articles I’ve seen haven’t been clear on where or how the ballots were found. It sounds like some were ‘naked ballots’ and others were complete with external envelopes. I haven’t had good experiences with absentee ballots in PA. Once the county level is corrupt, applications and ballots seem to ‘get lost’.
You do not have to know what is inside if it comes from certain locations. Military would be one. In my are if you tossed 100 ballots you would know you have deleted 80 Trump votes without looking inside. Do that to enough key zip codes you have tipped an election.
You are right. An update says that they were all opened. 7 of them were still open and were trump votes. Two had been “resealed” by election officials. Which I think is probably a felony, I would think they can’t re-seal envelopes they find open.
