This is all the result of a Democrat run State and its Democrat run cities.

It had a resurgence in the past 2 decades, lots of homes could be had for $300,000 in 1990s are worth $1 million plus today.

Some of the commercial property is still run down, and since Santa Monica incorporated into its own city with its own police force they’ve been pushing people south. Then, the city planned to spend something like $200 million to build 200 low-income units and of course the neighbors with their $1 million homes, 90% left wingers, cried NIMBY. But still people doing drugs in the street, living in cars, and living in caravans dumping their waste into the sewers.

Was better when they still had oil wells and all the derricks sticking up.

Then came the half-arsed gentrification.

They always show it looking like such a nice beach. But, once upon a time:

Yeah, I used to go to Venice Beach a lot when I lived in LA. It used to be a real fun place so sad to see it turned into a dump.

I visited a couple of times in the mid 80s when I was in my late 20s/early 30s and really liked it.

Then in 1990 the wife and I went on a driving vacation and stopped in LA/Santa Monica. It wasn’t as nice, but it wasn’t too bad. We ate at a nice outdoor restaurant there and stayed at a motel right across the street from the Santa Monica pier.

Place was a sh$%hole 25 years ago. A stump with no arms or legs break dancing, dude walking on broken glass, and various other freaks and tons of homeless. My memories from an early 90s visit.

Interesting thought. You don’t find pretty girls in the scuzz tent city areas. Pretty girls like safe places.

I was there in the 90's and it was really nice. Felt safe. Lot's of outdoors dining options.

Sounds like another place the libs ruined.

It was also better when the muscle boys were lifting their weights there. At least they kept the peace - not even the Democrats’ Burn Loot and Murder thugs would want to mess with ( jack lalaine, joe gold, Vic Tanny and many more). There’s still gyms but the ethos is changed, alas

Venice used to have a seedy element, but it was not completely overrun as it is now.

Wow.

This is all the result of drugs.

I do not think so.

It it the result of leftist takeover of the courts and the tort system.

Not allowed to enforce laws in many places.

Lots of places as nice as Venice beach, without the problems, as mentioned in the video.

As a kid, we would go there for a couple of weeks during the summer. It was a nice place back then.

In a few short weeks California will reinstall the same politicians who have brought all of this destruction. Liberalism is a MENTAL DISORDER.

Weep for what was once the crowning glory of America.

clicked on the link for the video and got hit with a page pretending to be from Microsoft and telling me my PC was locked up and to call an 800 number for Microsoft assistance.

My PC was in fact not locked up. I just had to exit the screen.

But this is fair warning to others that may also get that screen instead of the video.

How did the Democrats manage to DESTROY the state of California?!

It is the most beautiful state, (other than Hawaii), has the best weather, and offers the beach, the mountains, and the desert, all within driving distance. Yet people and businesses are fleeing from it in large numbers.

This video shows valuable ocean front property, that is now in an almost uninhabitable area.

INCREDIBLE DESTRUCTION has been wrought on California by democrats.

What exactly does this criminal enterprise, calling itself a political party, do for anyone?

Every place where democrats have control, is a scene of total devastation (see also: San Francisco).

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

-Side note: There are other interesting videos at this site- The guy interviewed some of the characters who have taken up residence on VB (and who can blame them for that?- If you are homeless, being homeless at the beach is probably your best bet). FYI
