Dems in Absolute Panic As Early Data Shatters Narrative in Key States
TG ^ | 10/19/2020 | Evan

Up until this weekend, the Democratic victory narrative has been this: Dems will outperform in early and mail in voting. Republicans, leerier to mail-in voting, will opt for in person voting and will outperform on election day. However, the in person voting will not be enough to overcome a massive early and mail-in voting numbers by the Democrats.

This weekend that narrative shattered in some key states. It's absolute panic.

Politico leads today's news with reports of numerous anxiety-ridden memos in Democratic offices: “Democrats are poring over early vote totals, circulating anxiety-ridden campaign memos and bracing for a long two weeks."

For what it’s worth. Just got home from in-person absentee voting, low country area, South Carolina. We were in outside line over two hours. The line had quite a few 25 to 35 year olds, which was concerning, but also quite a few no-mask people. The lady in front of us was retired from Massachusetts, and a Trump voter. The elderly black couple in front also were Trump voters.

Yep, there are plenty of people that feel far more supportive of Trump this time. That will correspond to new votes, more enthusiastic votes that bring in family members/friends.

When Trump was first running, I was convinced he’d be a Bloomberg Republican.

He convinced me to change my citizenship to US, and I will make my first Presidential ballot with Trump’s name on it.

My 401k would greatly appreciate a second Trump term!

Same here.

I hit the 59 1/2 tax penalty threshold on Thanksgiving. If Biteme wins I am seriously considering emptying my 401K completely in January.

These are sounding good. I've been wondering when we'd see mention of college voting as I figured it would be way down. Students vote while at school, skewing the results in those communities. They are not much at school this year and the events they might usually use to organize are not happening. This year would be a great year for a conservative to be running in any college town around the country.

And being home, students will not vote or if they do, are more likely to be influenced by parents and community than the liberal college campus.

End result: Less students voting and those that do will be less liberal. And when they vote at home, their impact will be countered by less liberal communities.

Besides, where is there a single student enthused about Biden?

Entirely anecdotal data, but when I was looking at the Harris County (Houston) website of voting locations, it tells you approximately what the wait will be at a given location. As is the case with most big cities, the interior of Houston is blue and the suburbs are red. Last week when I went to vote, the early voting locations with the longest waits were on the NW side of Houston, outside the Beltway. Traditionally, these areas are red and likely will be red in this election cycle. While there were the expected selection of stories about people waiting hours to vote, thus giving hope to the blue wave, where the waiting was taking place in Harris County was not in traditionally blue areas.

Admittedly, Harris County citizens can vote at any voting location in the county, so sure, people could be driving from other parts of the city to vote on the NW side, but that seems highly unlikely, as coming from inside Loop 610 to vote outside the Beltway is not exactly a walk across the street. As of right now, there is virtually no waiting listed for any voting location in all of Harris County, predictable given how many people voted last week.

I truly do not understand. Texas voters do not register by party. How does anyone know the party affiliation of a Texas voter? Local sources in my small rural town say that the “haul them in” campaign operatives are going full force in early voting. These are not Republican voters. Republicans drive themselves to the polls.

Why Dems thought college students would vote of waaaaay over the hill Joe Biden is a mystery to me.

Good point.

Add to that the fact that colleges are mostly closed for COVID, so no organizing or having them in gaggles for dems to exploit.

It is. Why else would President Trump (not one of his children, nor the VP) visit outstate (red) cities like Bemidji and Duluth? (Duluth used to be blue, but the mayors of 6 cities on the Iron Range north of Duluth, though Dems, endorsed Trump.)

Even more so, my Father who was pretty darn liberal changed his registration to Republican because of the DNC crap the last two years. Sadly he died recently and was unable to cast his ballot for Trump.

4 years ago my 3 school kids came home making fun of Trump. They’d heard nasty things about him at School. As the months led up to the election, 2/3 wound up being Trump supporters, with my wife being a reluctant supporter.

Now, the entire house is staunchly conservative and my wife regularly attends county GOP meetings.

How do you clean up the swamp?

Simple. Take away all the Chinese money by collapsing the CCP. Free China like Reagan freed the USSR. Once done, go back through the money trail to the recipients of the cash (politicians, media, and entertainers alike) and make a public spectacle of all of them at trial.

~40 (R) house members abandoned the field of battle in 2018 and retired from Congress. The power of incumbency was lost and the NeverTrumpers that most were simply fled.

When (D)s took over the House (more importantly not the Senate, where we actually gained) Trump, not having much choice, took the gamble that the (D)s would over play their hand and become their own worst enemies.

Flash ahead to 2020 and where we are now. 30 seats where Trump won in 2016 are in play, which were taken by (D)'s in 2018 but may very well with Trump's coattails flip back, placing Trump allies in the seats vacated by the deserters. Remember we only need to flip 17 of those 30 to take back House control.

Triple (R)(R)(R) 2021 might be in sight... this time with the Trump Train truly rolling forward with no brakes and unencumbered by the dead wood!

One point for those of us in New York, and for others in other ‘blue’ states - I believe it’s important to help run up the vote for the President to assist in possibly also winning the popular vote.

You must follow through, hard and sure, for the object in question to be disabled and rendered unconscious. Like a karate guy breaking a cinder block with his hand. We have to beat these dems so hard they are looking up immobile and in horror at their victors faces through comatose eyes

My wife and I had the same conversation! Except I still have another year to hit 59 1/2. My wife is already there though and she’s already looking at options for hers. I told her not to worry - Trump seems to have this.
