Netflix Reports Huge Subscriber Miss; Worst Subscriber Performance Since Q2 2016

Netflix delivers worst subscriber performance since Q2 2016; expects subscriber additions to be down year-over-year for first-half of 2021.

The ongoing uproar over "Cuties," a French film which most say exploits "children's hypersexualization," may have dented the once solid growth of Netflix. While the company did not mention "Cuties" in their earning report, most analysts the film played some part in the lower than expected subscriber numbers.

I congratulate you for a thoughtful approach to the trending times, which IMHO, are not worth much.

Plus, there are more and more conservative offerings. Losing Fox has not been as bad as I thought.

We have Townhall, The Federalist, Just the News. OANN, Newsmax plus others, and I know there will be more.

For entertainment there is Hallmark, which if forces make them change their appeal there will be another Channel to offer decent viewing.

Gone are the days of conservative voices not being heard and more of the voices coming out.

I am optimistic.

But google and netflix are especially loathesome.

Wow, who could have predicted this?

It couldn't be their promotion of child porn, so it must have been caused by COVID 19.

No, wait; it's President Trump's fault; yeah, that's the ticket. It's President Trump's fault.

Problem is their movie/tv content is getting drained away by Hulu, Disney+, NBC, Apple, etc streaming services

Exactly. I noticed the same thing. If you want the variety, you have to get several streaming platforms; and, eventually, the cost is getting close to cable. I used to think that one day I would just dump cable for a streaming service. But, everybody seems to be getting their own streaming services, so that is not a viable option any more.

Newsmax streams free. Also Fox News posts clips every day on its YouTube channel, so not having that hasn’t been particularly difficult. Then you have The Daily Wire personalities and their YouTube channels.

There is also the “EncourageTV” YouTube channel that pretty much replaces Hallmark...if you like that sort of thing. I’m not particularly into that kind of stuff.

You can more than replace all of those paid services with a decent antenna supplemented by a variety of free streaming services.

My family cancelled Netflix due to Cuties

Now watching Amazon Prime instead.

Obviously, I’m never going back

Canceled a coupla weeks ago. Don’t know why I waited. There is NEVER anything I want to watch on. Haven’t watched anything since the first of the year. My wife and I like one show that is on hiatus for a while. Not enough to pay every month. I search for a movie I want to see .. it’s never available. Only “Made for Netflix” crap! And the 0bamas and the Cuties nonsense .. I’m done. I mostly watch Encore Westerns and a few news shows sometime and USED TO subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket.

Yep, I have a:
-Tablo hooked to a OTA antenna and external HDD for recording
-Roku with KlowdTV app (for OAN, of course)
-Newson app for local news (in case I want to be nauseated and don’t want to watch a live local news broadcast on my Tablo)
-Amazon Prime
Oh and I use the local library for the more obscure DVDs that I like to watch.
Did I mention that I rip all my DVDs to my Synology NAS which has a media server function for streaming?

Back it all up on idrive.
