COMPLETELY off topic.
Buying a home in a unknown market, just hit with horrendous and unexpected Inspection Report
“Exactly how was Holmes crew going to gain access to that minimal crawl space without demoing that kitchen, “
Inspectors are not to do any damage to the home.
No, Im not confused. I reread it. Your blogger put words in Holmes mouth he never said on the program, then used his strawman quotation to denigrate Holmes. Those were not direct quotes at all. He made YOU assume that he had a copy of the original inspectors report, but he did not. I stand on my critique of the blog. YOU assume the original inspector could have said those things, and impute that Mike Holmes could have said them, but you have no evidence either did. Mike had a copy of the report provided to him by the owners.
Done with your nit-picking, know nothing critiques based on nothing but assumptions.
” two lines were stapled together (incorrect according to code) “
Please cite.
“As for it being dismissed for a just being a cold floor, remember this was Canada, where temperatures routinely get below ZERO! That floor was COLD... and it had no insulation at all.”
Where do you see it being dismissed?
“My Ladys condo, which she had bought newly constructed, had ZERO access to the attic space, when she started smelling hot electrical and having breakers trip on the Zinsco paneled wiring that had been installed by the original builders. But there was NO ACCESS to go looking for the problem in the attic space. The electrician had to CUT new holes in rooms”
No one checked for access? If the electrician had to cut multiple holes then one access was not enough.
Anybody can tear something down and then discover a problem. Holmes has yet to show where a visual point in time inspection revealed any of the things he shows. Holmes always has prior symptomatic descriptions provided by the home owner; disclosure statements from sellers are more often disclaimers. You can perform all kinds of magic in a television performance that is not live, heavily edited, and took several days to produce! His show gives our clients unrealistic expectations (those that dont know reality tv is anything but).
Home inspectors in a Real Estate Transaction have no lawful ability to do destructive investigation. Neither they nor their client own the property.

That's often the case. One of the first things you learn in engineering school is: Water runs downhill.
“Your one liner replies claiming that CaptainPhilfan doesnt need to upgrade the house he wants to live in is ill advised. Maybe he does. YOU ARE NOT THERE AND ITS NOT YOUR HOUSE! You have not been helpful to CaptainPhilfan.”
That is not what I said.
No, no and no.
“Mike had a copy of the report provided to him by the owners.”
What did it say?
