What a Biden Presidency Means for the Firearms Industry

Everything you need to know about what gun and ammo makers face.

~~~
Firearms manufacturers are certainly in the crosshairs as both the Democrat's campaign website and his stump speeches have specifically targeted the industry. So let's see what a Biden presidency might mean for gunmakers and potential sales.
Shooting through the roof
Industry observers dubbed former president Barack Obama the greatest gun salesman ever because sales soared during his administration due to fear he would enact strict gun control legislation. FBI criminal background checks more than doubled during his eight years in office, rising from 12.7 million in 2008 to over 27.5 million in 2016.
The industry went into a three-year slump following Donald Trump's upset victory four years ago. Yet in 2020, background checks are rocketing to record levels again, surpassing even the heights reached during his predecessor's administration. Through October, the FBI says the National Instant Criminal Background Check System has already performed 32.1 million investigations.
Notably, while sales began rising in early 2019, the trend markedly accelerated in March of this year as riots and civil unrest broke out across the country. The National Shooting Sports Foundation says background checks jumped 80% that month and have remained at elevated levels each month thereafter.
That graph drops off around July because everyone is out of inventory.
I was at Bass Pro a couple weeks ago & there’s not much to be had.
“I don’t agree with the assumption that all democrats will march in lockstep toward harsh gun control. Look at Virginia, for example. Last year the democrats took over both chambers of the legislature and the governorship.”
If you trust the Democrats at the federal level to protect the Second Amendment, I simply feel sorry for you.
I haven’t yet checked out your source yet, but I will and if I can find the ammo I am looking for, please accept my appreciation in advance.
I am well stocked on critical ammo, AR’s and others.
I recently bought a fun gun, Henry lever action 410 Axe 2 1/2”. It’s near impossible to find ammo for this gun.
I am presently looking at a Henry 45-70 lever action rifle OR a S&W 500 lever action (50 cal) rifle, but first I need to find the ammo.... So far, 2 days of searching and no ammo found for the 50 cal. Very expensive round...about $60+ for a box of 20. I will likely forget about the 50 cal and order the Henry 45-70.
Again, thank you for the link.
Just talked with three gun shops.
They have been told
1. No primers till 2023 at least.
2. Once the reloading powder in the pipeline (this includes muzzleloader powder), that is it for the foreseeable future.
3. Loaded ammo is going to be scarce to unavailable till at least 2024.
4. Plants are cutting back (the wholesalers words, not mine), because they can’t get components to make any of the above.
5. Gun makers will not add capacity in this climate, and are rumored to be cutting it.
One friend told me to take up archery, as gun hunting will be done within a decade. No guns, no components, no way to make more. We outsourced and combined all the capacity, and yet are surprised with they turn the spigot off.
I have, and will. But if what the wholesalers are saying it won’t matter.
I load my own for hunting, and that hobby will die. When all the local gun shops run out, and online sales are banned (which has a decent chance of happening), then what?
Hope for a USSC victory?
