Democrat state senators in Oregon have introduced legislation to pay black Oregonians $123,000 in reparations.
The bill would have the Department of Revenue establish a reparations payment program to residents “who can demonstrate heritage in slavery” and have identified as “African-American” for at least ten years.
The Daily Wire reports that “according to a copy of the state Senate bill, the government will pay six figures to any person who can demonstrate that they are a descendant of American slaves and have “identified as African-American” on legal documents.”
In order to qualify for the reparations, a person must live state for at least two years before the application deadline of Dec. 31, 2022.

The current COVID bill has USDA loan forgiveness for black farmers at 120% of the total which maxes out at $400,000 ($480,000). This is after Pigford I (2010)and Pigford II (2014)
If this actually gets approved (very doubtful) I predict this is what will happen. Aggressive “cash now” companies like J. G. Wentworth and thousands of less scrupulous ones will descend on the recipients like locusts. Because many of them do not understand how an annuity like this works they will be willing to take a lump sum payment at a huge discount to the future value of the payout. They would get $10,000 or less in cash which is a huge sum to them but the purchaser gets the full payment over time which is like earning 30-40% on their $10,000 outlay. Its a classic example of the “marshmallow” game.
Smart people will make a fortune exploiting the financially naïve once again. How is this just reparations?

I think it is racist of this ‘Rat senator to ask them to provide written documentation. There is no way a slave was aware of anything being written down about them. They should demand to be able to utilize the “oral history” like the native Americans do when they want to make special claims they know they can’t back up.
When I was working on a project with the Nez Perce tribe these were referred to as “coyote stories”.
Is that how little they think each Black slave was worth? I mean, they kill Black babies, so they clearly don’t value Black Lives very much.
Good use of time by Oregon state senators. It’s not like Portland is under siege or anything.
Seriously, it is extremely hard to prove your ancestors were slaves, and the A-A discriminator is also rough.
1/2 black - Mulatto (lighter black skin, some negroid features)
1/4 black - Quadroon (light black, can be confused with tan, and possibly curly hair.)
1/8 black - Octoroon (that is, someone with family heritage equivalent to one biracial grandparent; in other words, one African great-grandparent and seven European great-grandparents.) Can often pass as white or Hispanic.
