Didn’t someone appoint an Ass as a Senator, in the US we elected several Asses for years now, and the end is not yet.

, if she had occasionally closed her gates to let assimilation catch up with infiltration

not that I’m any expert on Rome, but I did read once that so wide an empire, without the bond of unity and nationalism instilling a feeling as part of one nation, instead of many parts just loosely associated with one nation and not feeling particularly obliged to defend any part not their own, was unsustainable. Same today as the islands feel towards America, half foot in the water and half out.

Rome had only one horse as a Senator.
We have dozens of Horse’s Asses.

And our politicians aren’t even drinking wine flavored with sugar of lead.

They’re crazy and incompetent all on their own.

A long read, but what stands out is:
"Rome was an empire of legions and law devolving into luxury and license and became a hodgepodge of conquest and cruelty."

Pretty close to modern western civilization and America today. There are other examples of why Rome fell further up that corresponds with our greedy immoral leaders today.

THE main difference is that America is not a true imperialistic nation looking to conquer. However, our power-crazed politicians think they can build new democracies out of age old tribal savages. Still, the biggest similarity with Rome is letting all cultures in and then wondering why the barbarians we let in the gate do not assimilate.

I spent 11 yrs Navy to defend the free world. Countless other have done SO much more and paid an awful price. I sometimes ask myself why did I and others bother? Here we are today with totalitarians (barbarians) inside the gate.

“ Rome was no longer Rome.”

And America is no longer America.

The situations aren’t identical but yes. There are some very important commonalities — and we should take heed — as our nation’s status is quite precarious

Rome didn’t follow God.

Big difference obstructed from view by low IQ.

One aspect not discussed above was the similarity of contemporary America and the Roman Empire in terms of widespread sexual degeneracy.

I had heard of this warning decades ago.

Even then people saw the very beginnings of our collapse and warned that the US was on the same path.

They were laughed off, of course.

What were the successful survival strategies for the Christian/patriotic/less corrupted citizens of Rome? Can we learn from history how best to cope with our failing nation?

“Bill Ferereder wrote, “Illegal immigrants poured across the Roman borders: Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Franks, Anglos, Saxons, Alemanni, Thuringians, Rugians, Jutes, Picts, Burgundians, Lombards, Alans, Vandals, as well as African Berbers and Arab raiders.””

What a bunch, but at least the vandals weren’t too bad, all they did was spray graffiti on Coliseum walls.

“America’s politicians still do not understand that true Muslims can not and will not assimilate—they always dominate.”

The Democrats DEFINITELY understand this...but not the Republicans. All they see are doctors and scientists among the Muslims and think they only worship at their mosques (which is the case, but lots more goes on there).

“Let nobody think otherwise, the vices of our bad lives have alone conquered us. … The Goths lie, but are chaste, the Franks lie, but are generous, the Saxons are savage in cruelty … but are admirable in chastity. … What hope can there be for the Romans when the barbarians are more pure than they?”

Much of that is true today. Americans are running around at gay pride parades dressed in drag...ever noticed how few immigrants do that crap?
