The Fenway Bowl? At Fenway Park? Not familiar with that one.

Also not familiar with so many of the games having corporate sponsors nowadays. Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl?

I would want to be playing on one of the teams in the Bahamas Bowl. Not a bad place to spend part of your holiday season!

When I was a kid, I think there were about seven or eight bowl games: Rose, Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Liberty, and two or three others. I can see expanding that to ten or twelve, but thirty or forty is ridiculous. Give the top 20 a bowl (plus some wiggle-room for teams ranked differently in different polls), and leave it at that.

The teams have not played each other or any mutual opponents, but they have played opponents-of-opponents.

Here are the averages:

So what happened to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans?

Did it get cancelled.

After so many years of rooting for my team and seeing them finish NEAR the top but never AT the top, its great to finally see them lift a trophy!

The Pitt Panthers are ACC Champions!!!

A few weeks ago I came out with a proposed structure for college football. Basically the 130 teams would be spread amongst 11 divisions.

The playoffs would consist of 22 teams, the first and second place teams in each division, with the division winners going directly to the Round of 16.

The 11 second place finishers would play in the First Round, with a Play-In Game between the two lowest seeded second place teams. Then the week after, the 5 First Round games would determine the Final Five teams to go to the Round of 16.

So based on the records and current poll standings this is how it would have shaken out:

Division Winners (First Round Bye)

Oregon
Utah
Oklahoma State
Baylor
Georgia
Alabama
Wake Forest
Clemson
Notre Dame
Michigan
Iowa

Second Place Teams and Seedings

First Round Games with higher seed hosting the game.

1 Ohio State
Winner of 11 Washington State vs 10 Appalachian State

2 Ole Miss
9 Wisconsin

3 BYU
8 Texas A&M

4 Oklahoma
7 Kentucky

5 Pitt
6 NC State

Then the 16 teams would be seeded and the Round of Sixteen would be played at the higher seed’s stadium

Then the Round of Eight is Played New Years Day at the Traditional Bowl Games:

Orange
Sugar
Cotton/Fiesta/Peach
Rose

Then the next week the National Semifinals and the week after The Championship Game

After Utah beat Oregon, they said that meant that Utah will be in the Rose Bowl for the first time. Since Michigan will be otherwise occupied, does that mean Ohio State will be the opposing team in the Rose Bowl?

Yesterday was an epic day for Bama. First the win over Georgia, then a huge victory over #3 Gonzaga in Men’s Basketball.

I wasn’t overly confident against Georgia, but the more that the talking heads disrespected Bama, the better I felt about the game. Angry Bama is the most dangerous Bama.

I wonder if Cincinnati would be in the New Years Bowl. They got in... Can’t wait for next season to see how Jim Mora will do with UConn. We are playing Michigan, Syracuse and BC next year...
