The State Department issued a security alert early Thursday morning reminding Americans in Ukraine that the United States will not be helping citizens evacuate.
The announcement to “remain vigilant and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness” echoes the Biden administration’s response to the chaos in Afghanistan when the Taliban took over last year.
“The U.S. government will not be able to evacuate U.S. citizens from Ukraine,” the warning read.
“Know the location of your closest shelter or protected space,” the department told Americans.

“In the event of mortar and/or rocket fire, follow the instructions from local authorities and seek shelter immediately,” it added. “If you feel that your current location is no longer safe, you should carefully assess the potential risks involved in moving to a different location.”
National radio host Todd Starnes slammed Biden for the announcement.

People have this bizarre notion that the State Department exists in part to protect Americans overseas. It doesn’t. The State Department exists to promote the interests of the State Department. Occasionally, by happy coincidence, those interests coincide with the interest of the people of the United States.
But mine’s animated, so nyah!
It does have a familiar ring to it, doesn’t it? But I can’t quite place it.
State Dept says that to everybody.
If they are dual-citizens, well, they made their choice to stay or be in Ukraine. Let them put on their country's uniform and defend their homes.
I'm not forgiving of any of these folks as it is not a surprise that there is war. They chose to remain. Their problem, not ours.

Situation in #Kiev
is deteriorating every minutes.
Large number of people of Kiev taking shelters in tunnels and underground metro station to save themselves.
We won’t help you get out of a war zone, but we will help ILLEGALS get into our country with no problem.
Never heard that once in my war zone years.
They could pretend to be Afghani’s then most probably get a free ticket out place a bonus package once they got here.
