On his MSNBC show Sunday morning, after playing a clip of Tucker Carlson calling for the release of the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) score of Ketanji Brown Jackson, Biden's Supreme Court justice nominee, Jonathan Capehart said to his liberal Democrat guest:
"Senator Hirono, I'm not going to curse because it's Sunday and I'd get fired. Can you talk about why what Tucker Carlson just said is so repugnant?"
Hirono failed to answer Capehart's question. She didn't/couldn't venture anything as to why it was "repugnant" to ask for Brown Jackson's LSAT score. The most she could muster was to suggest that there's little Carlson says "that enlightens anybody."
Given Hirono's failure, you might have thought that Capehart would have taken a moment himself to explain what was so repellent about Carlson's request. But like Hirono, Capehart was unwilling, or unable, to do so.
So . . . just exactly what is wrong with asking for her LSAT score? If we were choosing among doctors, would it be "repugnant" to ask for their MCAT scores? Capehart must see this as a suggestion that Jackson is black, therefore she's unqualified. Before Jackson was named, Capehart suggested because she was black, she'd be more qualified and brilliant than anyone who came before her.
Hirono suggested that instead of learning Brown Jackson's LSAT score, we should look at her "experience."
Brown Jackson's LSAT score [like Obama's college transcripts] will probably never be publicly disclosed. It's not usually done in Supreme Court....

I don’t even remember seeing Bush’s LSAT score.

After our experience with Biden, it should be safe to assume that if he refers anyone for USSC justice that the answer should be a quick & certain “NO”.
You are kidding right? LSATs and other standardized tests are necessary but certainly not sufficient criteria for becoming a Supreme Court Justice. Anything except a pretty high score would raise serious questions about the cognitive capacity of an individual dealing the inherent complexities of Supreme Court cases to make reasonable decisions.

I don’t remember any such cases. Tucker, like many of us, think she got where she is through affirmative action and thinks that forcing her to release her test score would prove that.
This is not that different than the Rats wanting Trump to release his tax returns. IOW, it’s politics - use whatever is at your disposal to cast aspersions on your foes.
By the way, if Jackson got a 180 on the LSAT, you endorse her?
The LSAT is for getting INTO Law School.
If her biggest credential for being a Supreme Court Justice is her skin’s black - then she should be rejected.

I go middling grades in undergrad (lazy and drank a lot), scored 98th percentile on the LSAT, got middling grades in law school (partly because I was also working full time), got top 20% on the bar exam and have been in practice (government and private) for 37 years.
I always said undergrad GPA has nothing to do with LSAT scores, LSAT scores have nothing to do with performance in law school, law school GPA has nothing to do with bar exam performance and bar exam performance has nothing to do with how good a lawyer the person becomes.

But, yes, I think instead of grandstanding by asking for LSAT scores, they should asl about her appeals record, which, I hear, is not good.

Actually, having heard Hirono speak (or try to) on several occasions, I’m not sure she’d be willing to share her driver’s test results with us. (”Which of these shapes indicates a “STOP” sign?”).
