Elon Musk, in a recently released video, has again called out the Biden administration over its alleged bias against his flagship company Tesla because it is non-unionized.
“The current Democratic Party does not support Tesla because it is not unionized,” Musk said during a lengthy late May interview, part of which was released on June 15.
“The pressure on this will increase over time,” he added.
“The more Tesla is successful, the more Tesla is an existential threat to the UAW [United Auto Workers],” Musk said while sitting down with the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley club at the Gigafactory Texas.
“And so the more pressure they’ll put on the people that they got elected to do harm to Tesla.”
“They would rather Tesla was dead than be alive and non-unionized.”
His remarks allude to long-running tensions between labor organizers and Tesla, which has resisted unionization throughout its history.
Unlike the so-called Big Three American automakers – General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis – which are represented by one of Biden’s oldest political allies, UAW, Tesla’s workforce is currently not unionized, and the company is the only American automobile manufacturer without a union.
Musk had repeatedly complained about Biden’s repeated snubs of his company’s leadership within the electric vehicle (EV) industry – at least until this February when Biden publicly name-dropped Tesla for the first time in his presidency.
Then someone explained it to me. It's not about jobs, or economics. It's about power.
Priorities, priorities!
This is the same reason democrats hate oil and gas companies. It is the largest non-union industry and its employees do extremely well, but no union bosses get to live off their dues and no contributions go the democrat machine. Add to that the climate change scam and oil and gas will always be the political whipping boy, even though you can’t run an economy without it.
They want dependent people, and want to kill or enslave independent people.
If they can't control it, they want it gone.
I like Musk, he reminds me, of, well - me.
Tesla finally figured out who the Democrats are.
They do, they have this delusion that EVs should only cost 5K and be available for everyone. Only way to do that is to build everything in China and kill all American jobs.
Yep Hostess was driven out of business by the Union. Union rules said they could not have bread and cupcakes on the same delivery truck. They found a way to come back minus the Union.
An African American who calls it as he sees it...
I have no doubt that is true, but they still want all of us dead.
Yeah. Who cares about the jobs, the investment, the efforts of the the people to establish and grow a company? Driving a company out of business sends a stark message to other companies who may find themselves sitting across a negotiating table from them.
Though Tesla stock is way overpriced, and though I will never buy a Tesla (or any other EV), I still support Musk against any and all democrats and democrat policies.
Mostly mediocre employees need Unions. If the workers at Tesla are happy leave them be. Good companies provide all sorts of benefits above and beyond that of the Unions. Unions have always reminded me of pyramid scams. If the Big 3 are so great, why are most of the people driving Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hundai, Nissan, etc. which I tend to believe are also non union. Why should companies be forced to hire mediocre employees? What next, another Biden Decree?
Mobsters have to get their skim... I mean union dues.
Having worked my share of union jobs over the years, I have to agree with a comment that has been made on here in the past, that these days, unions are mostly for thugs and slugs.
I once had a high-paying fireman's job on a diesel-electric locomotive. A fireman's job is to shovel coal to fire the steam driven engine.
I sat eight hours doing nothing but making small talk with the engineer.
Everyone was okay with that. The job was eventually abolished though.(Traded for some other perk)
Unions that ran me off the job for working to hard and fast = UAW, SIU.
I retired from a career of chip-making...very demanding and fast paced, non-union.
Those Hostess union people were only making $15.00/hr.
