1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Yes

When you read the reader responses, you realize that the criteria are entirely up to the reader. That’s what makes it such an eclectic list. Each respondent puts up a film according to his own “best” criteria. Some people say what makes a film their favorite, many don’t. But it all works out.

I just rewatched “Strategic Air Command” a couple weeks ago. It is excellent. It describes the sea change in the USA going from building forces to fight a war, then disbanding those forces to the Cold War where our defense forces are never demobilized. That was a big change to the American populace and to those in the military. It also did a great job showing the great personal sacrifices by the people in SAC in the early Cold War years.

Based on a quick scan, your number one is ignored by all other posters.

Most New Yorkers don’t know this, but York Avenue (on the upper eastside) is named after Alvin.

About the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment a black outfit.

Yes, in my opinion, the most realistic Civil War movie ever made.

I rewatched “Guns of the Navarone” a couple weeks ago and I didn’t think it held up that well. It was enjoyable, but really stretched disbelief too many times.
