Their major opponent which far outnumbered them in Weimar Germany post WWI, were the further and far LEFT Socialists known as Communist. Outnumbered the Nazis by several million people mostly out of work, and being managed by the blowback Bolsheviks who had succeeded (with Kaiser Wilhelm’s help),
in destroying the Romanov Tsar dynasty. They followed the emigres into France, and created at the same time the French Communists.

Rather different than the Leftist/Communist definition in wikipedia Communist propaganda (credited to both Encyclopedia Britannica & Merriam Webster-huh?): “Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.[”
