I suspect when Paul called the cops, and expressed the term ‘friend’....Paul might have been fairly drunk from hours before and just misidentified ‘Hammer-dude’ as someone he knew.

Why the glass was broken on the outside of the door, does beg questions.

Kind of comical....had this occurred with a Republican spouse in any state other than California...the intruder would have been shot, and left dead....with no details to wonder about.

Maybe Paul was being very smart, calling the perp a ‘friend’ on the phone call, so the perp would not be alarmed.

But this really does not fit either.
