“Joining you in prayer, USMCRevmom. I’m a USMCMum, half Ukrainian. I tell my husband now I know why I never give up.

These people are Angels, fighting for their families and their country, willing to sacrifice everything, living thru unspeakable hardships. I thank God my grandparents are long gone and never had to live thru this horror.”

Amen.

Just wondering

I am aware that there are may smart if not outright brilliant members on Free Republic and for curiosity sake I thought I pose the following question, perhaps one or the other may come up with an answer.

What do you think, either the US or NATO would do, should it get that far that Russia once again will take control of Ukraine as it had done so previously for the past four hundred years without any obvious problems until the US got into the act over more than a decade ago and started to agitate. Will they be ready to start WW III?

And by the way, I am not in love with Russia neither am I enamored with some of the war mongers in the District of Corruption, just wondering?

Putin and Russia have their war manufacturing running 24/7 with next door logistics support. The west can’t keep up.

SUMMATION:

IMO, Ukraine is fighting for the life of thier nation and people.

You might appreciate F.D.R. 1941 SOTU.

Especially 55-58
“[55] Let us say to the democracies: “We Americans are vitally concerned in your defense of freedom. We are putting forth our energies, our resources and our organizing powers to give you the strength to regain and maintain a free world. We shall send you, in ever-increasing numbers, ships, planes, tanks, guns. This is our purpose and our pledge.”

[56] In fulfillment of this purpose we will not be intimidated by the threats of dictators that they will regard as a breach of international law or as an act of war our aid to the democracies which dare to resist their aggression. Such aid . . . such aid is not an act of war, even if a dictator should unilaterally proclaim it so to be.

[57] And when the dictators, if the dictators, are ready to make war upon us, they will not wait for an act of war on our part. They did not wait for Norway or Belgium or the Netherlands to commit an act of war.

[58] Their only interest is in a new one-way international law, which lacks mutuality in its observance, and, therefore, becomes an instrument of oppression.”

UKRAINE HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL

1918
January 26 - Ukraine declares its independence

Soon after the Bolsheviks seized control in Russia in November 1917 and moved towards negotiating peace with the Central Powers, the FORMER Russian state of Ukraine declared its TOTAL independence.

One of pre-war Russia’s most prosperous areas, the vast, flat Ukraine was one of the major wheat-producing regions of Europe as well as rich with mineral resources: including vast deposits of iron and coal.

The majority of Ukraine was incorporated into the Russian empire after the second partition of Poland in 1793, while the remaining section—the principality of Galicia—remained part of the Austro-Hungarian empire and was a key battleground on World War I’s Eastern Front.

Immediately following the overthrow of the czar in February 1917, Ukraine set up a provisional government and proclaimed itself a REPUBLIC within the federated Russia.

AFTER Lenin and his radical Bolsheviks rose to power in November, Ukraine [like its fellow former Russian property, Finland] took one step further, declaring its COMPLETE independence in January 1918.

The Ukraine’s Rada government, formed after the secession, had serious difficulty facing Bolshevik opposition and counter-revolutionary activity. Seeing Ukraine as an ideal and much-needed source of food for their people, Germany and Austria brought in troops to preserve order, while forcing the Russian troops occupying the country to leave under the terms of the treaty at Brest-Litovsk, signed in March 1918.

Basically, Germany and Austria annexed Ukraine, while supposedly recognizing Ukrainian independence.

The defeat of the Central Powers and the signing of the ARMISTICE in November 1918 forced Germany and Austria to withdraw from Ukraine. At the same time, with the fall of the Austro-Hungarian empire, an INDEPENDENT Ukrainian republic was proclaimed in the city of Lviv.

The Ukraine states proclaimed their union in early 1919, but independence was short-lived, as they immediately found themselves in a three-way struggle against troops from both Poland and Russia.

The Ukrainian government briefly allied themselves with Poland, but still could not hold out against the Soviet assault.

In 1922, Ukraine became one of the original constituent republics of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) THEN, UKRAINE did NOT regain its independence until the U.S.S.R.’s collapse in 1991.

Joe & Co. are running this show, so I see nothing but disaster for us, as in Afghanistan.
We have no strategic interests in the area unless it is to ensure the hohols can keep flying their BLM and rainbow flags.
DeSantis is right. We should get out of this mess before some Republican a few years from now is tasked with extricating us from Joe and the piano player’s excellent adventure, while democrats call it ‘his war’ and him a ‘warmonger’. FJB

1. 23 Mar: Genius. Ukrainians USE JAVELINS TO DESTROY RUSSIAN ATGM SYSTEMS | War in Ukraine Explained
Reporting from Ukraine

“I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the three hundred and ninety third day of the war.

Day 393: March 23

Today the biggest news is coming from the east. Here, Ukrainians tried to widen the corridor to Bakhmut and push Russian Anti-Tank Guided Missile systems away from the road. Ukrainians were facing a lot of difficulties in dealing with ATGMs, but when one Ukrainian crew started detecting and destroying these systems with Javelins, the situation rapidly shifted in Ukrainian favor.

Last time I told you that Ukrainians conducted a successful counterattack in the southern part of the region and improved the security of the Ivanivske highway, which they immediately started to use. I also told you that Ukrainian reconnaissance and HIMARS crews are destroying up to 3 Russian assault units per day before they even launch their assaults.

The freshest reports suggest that Ukrainians continue to spot and destroy Russian assault units while they are walking toward their target. Today Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade released a video showing how they detected another assault squad north of Bakhmut, communicated the coordinates to the artillery team, and prevented the attack by killing the enemy on the approach.

The latest reports also indicate that after Ukrainians increased the territory under their control in front of the Ivanivske highway, they switched their focus to the Khromove highway. Prior to conducting a counterattack, Ukrainian forces conducted an artillery preparation on the enemy positions in the tree lines, and as it would be revealed later, this ensured that Ukrainian assault would only need to deal with half of the squad.

When the assault was launched, Ukrainians approached the trenches and started a close combat engagement. A second team of drone operators helped those on the ground to navigate the situation and informed them about the activity in the Russian trenches. As a result, the attack was successful, and the Russians lost their positions in the tree lines.

However, this was only the beginning, as Russians are holding many positions along the Khromove highway. Russian side recently released footage showing how they are using anti-tank guided missiles or ATGMs in the tree lines to target Ukrainian vehicles. Today, the Ukrainian side released footage showing how they started spotting Russian ATGM positions and then destroying them with Javelins.

In order to reduce Russian fire control over the road even more, Ukrainians also put emphasis on destroying Russian mortar crews. This task proved to be much more difficult because they do not have to be located close to the contact line. However, today Ukrainian 127th Brigade released a video of how they tracked down a Russian car and discovered that it was supplying mortar crews with ammunition. As a result, they destroyed the vehicle with a drone and communicated the enemy mortar positions to the artillery.

Ukrainian Intelligence has recently intercepted a Russian call, which revealed that Russian forces around Bakhmut are leaving their positions. It mentioned that there are 119 cases of desertion and that 70 were already found and will likely go to jail.

This is not surprising given the level of losses that Russians are incurring near Bakhmut. American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley stated in an interview that nearly 1,200 Russian soldiers were recently killed in a single day around Bakhmut when Russians tried to overwhelm Ukrainians with attacks from all sides.

UK military advisor Ian Stubbs also recently discussed the situation around Bakhmut and told the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe that Russia has lost up to 30 000 Wagner and regular forces in its failed attempt to capture Bakhmut. Such a magnitude of losses is equal to around 3 divisions or 1 full corps.

And looks like it is true because several days ago, the Head of the Wagner Group, Prigozhin, announced that he is planning to recruit the same number of militants by May – 30 000. All of that strongly indicated that the information regarding Wagner Group’s problems is quite reliable.”

Does this look good to you? For anyone in or on their way to or from Bakhmut? Ukrainians celebrating that Bakhmut is holding, but ignoring the fact that the more it holds, the deeper in sh*t they get…

Further we've seen countless videos of Russia rebuilding apartments, parks, playgrounds, schools, theaters, hospitals and sports complexes in Mariupol and other cities on the front.......but have yet to witness any videos of Ukraine rebuilding cities in their regained territories.

I wouldn’t presume God is with a corrupt government in all its dealings, that partook in a coup against elected leaders, sought mischief against its own people, and prepared for war 8 years prior.

Romans 2 comes to mind. Sounds like judgment has arrived.

Fake news!...... It was tossed out after Zelensky’s PR visit failed to make the impact. Vladimir Leontiev, head of Novaya Kakhovka denied the reports and said that “the only thing that disappeared today was Ukrainian mobile signals in the city, transmitted from Berislav.
