Political positions
Burgum has made comments about President Joe Biden and his performance as president of the United States on Facebook and in public messages.[43]
Burgum endorsed former president Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020. Trump also endorsed Burgum during each of his gubernatorial elections.[44]
Energy
Burgum has been very vocal on his support for the fossil fuel industry, especially in the Bakken region of western North Dakota.[45] But he also signed a bill to create clean energy sustainable for the state on April 26, 2021.[46] Burgum supports the Dakota Access Pipeline.[47]
Abortion
In April 2023, Burgum signed a near-total ban on abortion in North Dakota.[48]
LGBT rights
In July 2020, Burgum called the 2020 Republican platform “divisive and divisional” on LGBT issues. During the 2023 session of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly, Burgum signed numerous anti-trans laws, including a near-total ban on gender-affirming care to minors. [49][50][51][52]
Critical race theory
On November 12, 2021, Burgum signed a law banning the teaching of critical race theory in North Dakota K-12 schools.[53]
Taxes
Burgum has signed numerous laws to cut taxes. During the 2023 legislative session, he signed a bill that exempts members of the North Dakota National Guard and reserve from paying income tax,[54] and another that provides over $500 million in tax relief.[55]
Self made billionaire who took a risk and built a company. Then got into politics late in life and has been successful. Hardly a member of the clown car.
Is he running for President of the United States or of Norway?
He is really running for Secretary of Agriculture, but since that position is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, he cannot “run” for it so he has to run for President and make his case to the person who wins the nomination and then the election that he is available.
And Chris Krispe Kreme Cristy is running for head of the FOOD and Drug Administration. No, it is not a cabinet level position, but CKKC never really reached the stars and he only will do that if there are chocolate bars along the way.
He is also a very good speaker and may be VP or cabinet worthy.

He risked his money on Great Plains software, built it up and then sold to Microsoft for BIG BUCKS. After a few years as a top MSFT executive, where he was highly regarded, he went back to ND and became governor.
I worked for Burgum at Great Plains. He’s a good guy.
Just joking. Sounds like a decent guy. The country needs more people like him.
If this keeps up, Ronna McDaniel is going to need to buy a 10-gallon hat.
And it won’t be a cheap one.
He sounds like someone who has done for ND what DeSantis has done for FL, with two differences: Burgum didn’t have to fight Disney and the Orlando gaystapo, and no one outside of ND cares about what happens in ND.
Burgum hasn’t a Disney tranny’s chance in Fargo to get the nomination, but he might get a bit more name recognition in the future.
