By the end of the timeline, GM will be gone
Recently...Musk said I have no intentions of going broke because of EVs.
“ I wish Tesla would do what’s right...and give up the EV business.”

I’m guessing the EV is here to stay this time around to as an urban runabout. However, it will never become the long hauler, construction or agriculture workhorse or travel vehicle of choice for families. I’m thinking maybe hydrogen is the better fit. Also, improvements continue on the ICE. And, will be with us for at least the rest of this century.

Tesla makes a high margin on their EV automobiles and the people who drive them look very cool with that super-sized iPad in the middle of the console doing everything for them and providing them with entertainment as well.
It seems to me that consumer demand will drive the EV space. Tesla appears to have carved out a nice niche for themselves here that other automakers will be challenged penetrating.

One of the big issues in the last automotive strke was union opposition to EV since EV require fewer assembly line workers.
It is said that Tesla is a computer with an automobile ap
One of the side effects of GM’s and Ford’s decisions will undoubtly be the construction of far fewer EV recharging stations than initially planned, further increasing the pain for EV owners.

The removal of self-checkout lines had much more to do with product shrinkage since it is relatively easy for customers to steal product or scan a cheap item instead of the expensive ones.
Good news! First principle of economics - supply and demand.
I believe Ford has done the same, the people are saying FJB, and the car companies!! WE HAVE SPOKEN!! Screw ALL of your electric BS!!!
Not too far from the truth!
No problem, the government will buy them up using our tax dollars.
I’d argue it’s not purely because they’re “EV” and nobody wants them, but because nobody wants them when they’re all over $50k, $60k, $100k, etc...
The combination of a customers not craving an EV, even if interested and curious, are not going to consider those sticker prices - especially with the economy the way it is.
They should done more advance market research. They probably figured they were going to get generous subsidies from the Feds.
“Why would I inconvenience myself? I pull up to a gas station...in less than 5 minutes....I’m back on the road and good for 200 miles at least.”
You know what’s even more convenient? Never going to a gas station again. Just plug your car in when you are home.
This is what happens when you make a global warming true believer head of a car company.
They could recover their losses by selling what they’ve made so far to the military as smart EV bombs that nobody can put out.
