It’s 2024 and we live in a world where the police investigates gang rapes in Metaverse.
The rape may be fake, but the consequences are as real as it gets.
LBC:
Police are investigating an alleged rape in a virtual reality game after a child was attacked in the online “metaverse” – in what is thought to be the first time such a probe has been launched.

So, does this damage the chances for retro-gamers to get a 4k remaster of the little know Atari 2600 title “Custer’s Revenge”?
I ought to file charges of attempted murder against quite a few people.
“The girl, who is aged under 16...”
What kind of IDIOT PARENTS allows a kid who’s under 18, much less under 16, to play video games. The parents should be arrested.
four words to the putative “virtual victim”:
TAKE ... OFF ... THE ... HEADSET ...
So I should be arrested for playing Zelda and halo with my son? How about you should be arrested for saying stupid shit on the Internet? Been playing since I was 4, as has he.
No police official wants to be the one who incurs the wrath of the screaming feminists by telling them to go to hell.
Perhaps the writer is creating a controversial issue when there is none. The girl was threatened in an online game by real people. Can those online threats become physical in the real world?
Throw the scumbags in a meta-jail and throw away the meta-key!
But, but they’re just games how can anyone take this seriously, kids been shooting each other and blowing stuff up for years in all kinds of games with apparently no ill effects, so now they are turning to rape, I mean what’s the harm, right. /s
If the toy or the game is bothering you quit using it or playing it.
I vaguely remember that series. Didn't the girl start using some "glasses" her father invented to enter this metaverse?
Actual prosecution of a thought crime. That is all this is. Next you will be executed for voting republican.
I’ve killed and been killed literally thousands of times in Call Of Duty. Should I hire an attorney?
They just using this to make thought crimes actual crimes. Intent isn’t actual, thus you could murder the president over and over in meta or a game and it is not an attempt on the president’s life.
The case in point, the alleged Meta-rape. Are they alleging that like in call of duty you actually murdered the other player? Are they saying this a crime that can be prosecuted? No. Only the criminally insaine could bring something like this into the courts. How does it translate to actual touching and either person having any physical feeling or stimulation? It cannot not. Now if they were claiming she was “Mind-Fucked” they might start to get my attention. Then again, the imaginary is the real of the insaine or that of other deminsions or spirits, none of which is actual for legal intents and purposes.
Yes. And she created a virtual copy of herself that became the brain for the first Cylon. It was quite a good series. Only two seasons though.
So she created a biologically accurate avatar, even down to internal genitalia? That seems extreme even before anyone else got involved.
