If you're a democratic megadonor, this is a very tough moment for you. Your candidate is going to lose. All the polls show that Joe Biden will not be elected president if current trends continue So you need to make a change. But there's a problem. And that problem is Joe Biden's running mate. She's half Jamaican. Therefore, she's holy. You can't criticize her, much less demote her. That's not allowed. You are stuck with Kamala Harris and she is even more unpopular than Joe Biden. So what do you do? Well, if you're smart, maybe you subvert the other party. Maybe you back a Republican candidate who's actually a Democrat whose priorities are identical to yours. And, of course, they found one. Her name is Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley is a liberal. She is all in on the four tenants of neoliberalism, which are white guilt, a finance based economy, mass immigration, and endless neocon wars. Strip away all the outward characteristics. And Nikki Haley is identical in her priorities to Joe Biden and the people who back Joe Biden. Watch this tape. I never thought they were going to dump Biden for Newsom. They made try to get Haley in the primary. But there’s no way they would support her for the general election. And nobody believes she has a chance anyway. In the primary. Ever since Bragg became Trump’s campaign manager, the primary is over.
Aren't most Democrat primaries closed primaries (only registered Democrats can vote in them)?
And Republican primaries open (any registered voter can vote in theirs)?
I believe a percentage of Democrats have been boosting RINOs in Republican primaries for decades.

Nikki is just pandering almost as well as a top-level Democrat. It’s what happens when a person values power more than anything else.
Haley actually has the inside track for VP right now. Trump’s never ruled her out, even when questioned directly, neither have any of his current advisors.

Same with me. Given the right odds (maybe 6 to 1) I’d bet on Michelle. I wouldn’t bet on anyone else except Biden.
Biden has the D primaries locked up. So he will have more than enough delegates at the D convention. If the party bosses plan to dump Biden, they’re going to have to be very creative.

One nightmare scenario is for Nimrata to tell Trump behind the scenes, “Make me your VP or I’ll run for President third party”.
Michelle has less chance than Newsom. Michelle hates DC and hates politics. She’s never going to run for president or anything else. She flat out doesn’t want to. I don’t want know why people keep promoting this myth that somehow she’s going to run for president. It’s never going to happen.
Sort of like LBJ on JFK’s ticket or the Bush on Reagan’s ticket?
No I don’t see President Trump putting her as a VP.
The reality is an incumbent president has a huge advantage. Now in the case of Biden many people are sick of him. But still and incumbent president can overcome a lackluster performance. They are better off just sticking with him.

Forcing a perceived balance “within” the ticket seems to be the modus operandi of insiders/elitists/RINOs when their favored candidates fail to attract sufficient support among Republican primary voters.
Of course, when their guy gets the nomination (read: Romney) they never dream of pairing him with a hard-minded conservative Veep candidate.

I can’t see Michelle voluntarily throwing her hat in the ring. She’s too lazy for that.
But I sure can see her being pressured to run. “Michelle, our polls see Trump surging to a huge win in November. He’ll destroy all the good work Barack did. Only you can stop that evil racist.”
Now, is that likely? No. But given 6 to 1 odds, I’d risk a couple bucks.
