Florida governor Ron DeSantis still believes he is going to be the next president of the United States, despite flopping in all polls and placing distant second behind Donald Trump’s big win in Iowa.
[cut]
Speaking to his voters, DeSantis thanked them for their support and celebrated the result after critics “threw everything but the kitchen sink at us” and still insisted he will be the US’s 47th president.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do but I can tell you this, AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES I am going to get the job done for this country.”

Ron, the only battle left for you is over last (2nd, 3rd, or 4th, no matter) place. Delusion isn’t going to win you anything else.
Perhaps he’s been told that Trump is not going to be President. That implies that they are going to remove Trump no matter what.
If only...
No, I don’t think so. He is running to separate and confuse a small percentage of republican voters from Trump. Let’s see if DeSantis ends up endorsing Trump or will he pull a Ted Cruz “Vote your conscience”.
That’s why everyone, good and bad hate him (Desantis) so much... He’s the only logical choice when they remove Trump in late summer. Stick with the white guy who will do the least amount of damage. They are all just figureheads anyway.
These morons spouting stupid shite still think they actually have a choice on who their next Ruler is, laughable.
Concentrate local, Sherriff, local councils, your neighbors, assess assets and liabilities. The warmest person will become a blood-thirsty killer when his family is starving in front of him or rat you out to the local bad guys...
Unless DeSantis has inside information about how and when the GOP is going to dump Trump. he’s crazy.
Unfortunately, he is probably in on the plan.
>> 2nd place is important.
Distant second place in one state contributing forty delegates, of which Ronnie Boi gets about ten, is insignificant.
But then Ronnie Boi has not risen above insignificant in his entire failed and misbegotten campaign.
My, aren’t you a ray of warm sunshine on this cold winter morning. ;-)
Fair enough. I actually like RDS, too. Just think Trump is more of a fighter. He also ticks off all the right people. :^)
He deserves better, just don’t think he is the best man among the GOP choices.
Agree Turmp deserves better. Understand your point of view about who is best. Just respectfully disagree. :^) again.
When you lose by the largest percentage in the history of the Iowa caucus it is time to re-evaluate your campaign.
Let me reword that.
It is time to either:
(1) Fire your entire campaign staff
(2) Step up and admit you got crushed and you are ending your campaign.
The Spin cycle is what the consultants do to impress other consultants with what clever liars they are.
You are exactly correct.
“not announcing the caucus winner before all the precinct locations are closed is important”
Context is critical here.
It was a brutally cold and windy January night in all of Iowa.
Anyone who showed up to caucus for any candidate was a Die Hard supporter.
That meant they were there to support their candidate no matter what.
They could not care less what the networks “called” on the race—particularly since a Trump victory was a 99% chance to begin with....
The notion that a significant number of DeSantis supporters (but miraculously no Haley supporters) fled the caucus sites without voting first is absurd on its face.
It is some of the most pathetic spinning I have ever heard—and I have worked on dozens of campaigns over five decades.
The point being she visited Los Angeles and was appalled. Then visited Florida and was stunned by how things just worked, were clean, etc. In an unguarded moment admitted she'd vote for RDS. However, in another unguarded moment admitted she'd probably vote for Trump over Biden or more likely just stay home. Actually bought me a "TRUMP Save AMerica" hat, partially as a joke but partially not.
Point being she prefers DeSantis but cannot stand Biden. This from a life-long hardcore Hollywood liberal. :^)
Same here but I won’t vote Republican “no matter what”.
I don’t care what anyone here says. It would be a 2 person race to hell if Haley got the nom. She would be another Jorge Bush, except more liberal and possibly maybe even more military-Industrial complex supportive. I also won’t have any part in almost the entire English speaking world being governed by a handful of Indians (descent).
Hers would be slower path to ruin to sleepy Joe maybe.
I will vote Desantis or Trump or Vivek——maybe the other guy, can’t even remember his name.
I won’t vote for any socialist woke D (that’s what they have became) and I won’t vote Haley. I’ll go play with the grandkids then drink later that night.
Same with Camela Harris.
>> I also won’t have any part in almost the entire English speaking world being governed by a handful of Indians (descent).
100% with you on that point.
See my post yesterday.
If you didn’t, do you realize
UK (and Londons mayor)
Ireland
Scotland
Are currently all rules by Indians?
If the US went with Haley the entire Northern Hemisphere English speaking world be under Indian rule.(except a few million Canucks).
Your still recovering... thats a good thing.
Ron is the Republican backup, period. Trump needs to quit attacking his character which is far and away ahead of any Democrat in the country.
