14 House Democrats Vote To Denounce Biden Admin’s ‘Open-Borders Policies’

Fourteen House Democrats voted to denounce the Biden administration‘s “open-borders policies” on Wednesday amid a surge in crossings and blue cities around the country getting overwhelmed with migrants.

The group of party defectors joined with all voting Republicans in passing a resolution introduced by Rep. Nathaniel Moran (R-TX). Twelve Democrats and nine Republicans did not vote.

In addition to denouncing the policies, the resolution condemned the “national security and public safety crisis along the southwest border” and urged President Joe Biden to “end his administration’s open-borders policies.”

Among the 14 who broke ranks was Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), a former Tennessee Titans linebacker and Obama administration official who is taking on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the 2024 election. The others were

Reps. Yadira Caraveo (D-CO),

Angie Craig (D-MN),

Henry Cuellar (D-TX),

Donald Davis (D-NC),

Jared Golden (D-ME),

Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX),

Greg Landsman (D-OH),

Susie Lee (D-NV),

Jared Moskowitz (D-FL),

Wiley Nickel (D-NC),

Mary Peltola (D-AK),

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), and

Eric Sorensen (D-IL).

“Most of us understand that nations need borders, those borders should be secured, and we should enforce the immigration laws on the books. Most of us also understand that those seeking entry to our country deserve an orderly and predictable immigration process. Right now we have problems on both fronts,” Golden said in a statement.

“Illegal immigration threatens our national security and undermines American jobs,” he added. “It’s time for Congress and the Biden administration to come together and pass legislation to meaningfully address issues at the border. It should be a top priority in Washington, just like it is in most of America.”

The bipartisan vote took place as impeachment hearings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas get underway this month and on the same day congressional leaders met with Biden at the White House to discuss a national security funding request for U.S. allis such as Ukraine and Israel, as well as border security while the Democrat-led Senate tried to hash out a deal.

“I told President Biden: it’s on you,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a post to X. “Your policies created the border crisis. Your executive action can end it. House Republicans will continue to demand transformative policy change and hold this administration accountable until the border is secure.”

This just tells me that MOST of the Democrats APPROVE of what Biden is doing.

‘Nuff said.

HR2 vote by party

Every one of these Democrat plantation slaves were allowed to momentarily step outside of the fence for tactical reasons only.

Allred represents a racist district in the Dallas area -- he's running for the Senate against Ted Cruz and has a HUGE bankroll of liberal/Hollywood money with which to do so. Cruz is not nearly as safe as some would like to believe (yeah yeah, we know all about what happened to Beto the last time against Cruz).

Every one of the others aside from maybe Sorensen in his ultra-gerrymandered Democrat district in Illinois, are in marginal districts. Some more so than others, but they need to pose as "moderates" occasionally and the plantation masters permitted them to play make-believe on this current vote in order to get them the illusion of "cred" regarding border security.

Look how courageous they are, to defy their party like that! Yeah, right.

In the month of December alone 2023 over 300,000 illegals crossed into the United States along our southern border. This fact was stated in a Congressional hearing.

That is the population of Pittsburgh, or Cincinnati. God damn people, it is time to wake up!

It’s quite likely that these Dems are complete liars. They have not been leading the charge to establish real boundaries in the past. Why are they suddenly in the news now?

Doesn't mean a thing...the only thing on the table is Biden's plan to fund the "sanctuary" states...nothing stopping the flow at the border...AND...Biden's bill is attached to Ukraine and Israel.

H.R. 2...was passed by the House with "0" Dem votes.

Of course it doesn’t mean anything; that’s the whole point.

It’s all for show and if the current non-biding resolution really DID mean something then no Democrats would have been allowed to stray from the plantation.

Good job though, for Republicans to let a few Democrats pretend to oppose totally open borders and maybe shore up their re-election chances at zero cost.
