Re your. #2 comment on DeSantis - the BSM was the base award, i.e. the BTDT award, for most officers serving in that AO. Not receiving that award would have been a negative on his service record.

You might endorse Trump’s name-calling, insulting, nastiness and vindictiveness. You might ignore his inability to work with others; and, his poor choices as to subordinates. I don’t. While nobody is perfect, I would prefer that our candidate isn’t as flawed as Trump. I also realize, Trump’s not going to change. He’s a package deal. You take the good with the bad. This election is going to be decided by people who think both Trump and Biden are flawed, based on who is less flawed personally and/or on which party has the better or less worse policies.
Most people have strength and weaknesses. As Clint Eastwood put it, “a man’s got to know his limitations.” Let’s say a person has some severe limitations, as you describe your father-in-law. If this person can arrange his life to max his strong points and min his weak points, he might be able to have a productive life. The problem is, to now quote Shakespeare, “The evil that men do lives after them. The good is oft interred with their bones.”

The ‘disrespect’ Demented Joe says Trump showed by not visiting the American grave ceremony was for WWI’s Belleau Woods soldiers. They planned to go to the ceremony, but the WH said low cloud cover and rain prevented the helicopter from landing there. I guess it’s up to the reader/listener/viewer/attendee to decide how realistic that reason is. IMO, Trump is definitely not the type of person to disrespect military service.
As for Biden, his lies and misrepresentations about both his sons’ service and/or reason for passing are aplenty.
