What do you think he meant by that? To behave like a gentleman? Or, to take insulting people to a new level?
Let me put this another way. What if, back in 2016, we combined Trump’s good qualities (what I think are his good qualities), such as his focus, his energy, his ability to deal with stress and his charisma, with being a gentleman? Do you think this would improve his favorable rating and increase his chances of winning the upcoming election?
I’ll offer my answer. Trump’s not going to change and even if he did, people wouldn’t believe it. He is what he is, and part of his charisma might be tied up with being the guy that he is. He has a lot more chance of being elected a second time, than I have of being elected dog catcher. Indeed, he is, narrowly, the favorite. But, the last time we had a President who conducted himself as a gentleman and combined being a gentleman with a conservative Republican agenda, that man was re-elected in a landslide.
