The New York State Corrections Department will lock down all its prison inmates during the total solar eclipse on April 8.
Many inmates are now suing the state following the bizarre move.
In a lawsuit filed by a group of inmates, the lockdown during the total solar eclipse “violates inmates’ constitutional rights to practice their faiths.”

“Listen boys, when the sun goes out, we’re going over the east wall! Who’s in?”
I’m as nervous as a cat on a tin roof.
The forecast is about 50/50 if we will have mostly clouds or sun that day.
I’ve already reserved a nice spot on a perfect location of totality in Indiana. I really want to see this one with my grand boys and I’m sure it will be my last good chance unless travel is involved.
I think King Louis the 1st was ruling France the last time this area had a total eclipse.
Explain to me how the orbit of the tidally-locked moon (billions of years) violates anyone’s constitutional rights let alone prisoners. Yet the left will find a way after shopping for the ‘correct’ judge.
“Day of the Triffids”
I was able to see the total eclipse over Tennessee in 2017. I was afraid we would miss it because my husband had a doctor appointment in Chattanooga that day. It happened while we were driving home on I-75. Everybody pulled over on the side of the Interstate to watch it.
I remember telling the nurse that we had to be out of there before the eclipse. She laughed and said they were closing the office at that time so that they could all go outside and watch it.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people to see it so see it if you can.
A friend lives in four minutes of totality near Cleveland. We’ll be staying at his place Sunday night and enjoying the “heaven’s declaring the glory of God” on Monday. Almost the whole family will be traveling with us.
Son, daughter, her fiance, other daughter and my other son’s girlfriend. (he has to work)
The only Constitutional right inmates of a prison have are one against cruel or unusual punishment. They gave up all the other ones when they were declared guilty of their crimes.
It’s a blog...
Why not post the whole thing right here?
It is really quite stunning.
The temperature drop is quick. And then once the eclipse has passed you feel .... wait for it .... Global Warming.
This is not a joke.
It seems that turn9ing on the lights would suffice. Those “in charge” want to make everything a big disaster. It isn’t like there haven’t been eclipses before this one.
The bigger questions... why lock them down?
It’s a prison it’s why it was built they don’t need any perks.
They are getting ready for something, its strange they are doing all these strange things for the eclipse
For a tourist event?
When has this ever happened in history?
It does seem like someone expects something
They can practice their faith all they want during the eclipse — they’ll just have to do it from inside. Why do they need to be outside?
And if you want the option to be outside during an eclipse, don’t commit crimes that are so horrific that even New York saw fit to imprison you — it really takes some doing to get sent behind bars there.
Inmates run the place now??
The same one we saw in ‘17. But we were on the edge of totality near Bowling Green Ky . This time I want the full effect.
It went right across us in the Chattanooga, Knoxville, Athens area. We didn’t have to travel to see it but would have if my husband had been able.
