That came to a crashing halt not long after. As Vietnam dragged on, increasing numbers of Americans became exposed to the modern 9mm autoloader, and Americans started buying them at home.

And then this happened.

Interesting.

38 super is not a bad cartridge. Not sure how well it cycles a 1911 with was designed for a lower pressure heavier round.

I’ve been on polymer framed pistols for almost two decades now. :P Converted from 9mm Browning High Powers to Springfield XD45s - minimal retraining required.

It cycles it very well, as .38 Super was specifically designed for the 1911 as an alternate caliber with higher penetration.

Dude, it’s starting to get that bad out there, even in red states.

Colt introduced the .38 Super in 1929, the biggest problem was as a semi rimmed cartridge the eventually headspaced it off the rim instead if the case mouth (like the .45 ACP) and accuracy suffers badly. I had a 1949 Colt that shot fine, but a 1960’s version stunk. Both were picky about ammo.

A SIG P220 I have feeds everything, as does a SIG 1911 in the caliber. Advances in bullet design make current 9mm +P it’s equal though.

Local cops in Nice had .357 revolvers with cavalry lanyard rings and lanyards about half a dozen years ago. Surprised me.

I’m sure that it is. Pity that the criminal element has figured out a good way to cover up its crimes.

GIGN, France’s elite police unit has long used the Manhurin in .357 Magnum.

HOLY SMOKES!

That’s one helluva MSRP.

Probably what they have. Can’t imagine they spend anything light that much when equipping the gendarmes.

It’s up there with the Korth, but an amazing revolver. They even made a sniper model with a bipod and scope.

There are revolvers made in the EU by EAA and others. or they could have bought Smiths. The French purchased Ruger Mini 14’s for Police units back in the day.

Not what was implied. The point is that it’s starting to get so bad out there with the media and the Soros DAs that it is becoming increasingly attractive to not stick around after a justified shooting and while leaving the area, to run a file down the barrel a few times and discard it while unobserved, to take that same mini file to the extractor, breech face and firing pin and then swap your spare barrel in, just in case you need the weapon again right away. Then dump the file.

I’ve also seen fully equipped infantry in Nice, with FAMAS IIRC, body armor and helmets. In tourist areas, like around Old Town and the Place Massena and nearby park.

And this was before the truck of peace attack along the Promenade de Anglais pedestrian/bicycle path.

Because it’s a religion of peace1

What about .50 cal? I remember gun grabbers pushing for laws to “save us” from all of the crime that doesn’t involve those guns.

For that kind of money I’d have a hard time understanding how that is worth it compared to a Colt or S&W. Maybe, if that is what it would cost to produce a new old school Python, but I hear the new ones are pretty good (even better?) for a lot less than that.

I think my .460 Smith & Wesson Magnum would have a 100% success rate.

There are 1911s in 9mm.

Work just fine.

Are they redesigned with a lighter slide? Or just different springs etc ?
