It used to be believed that the Hyksos introduced the chariot to Egypt, but that's been shown to be untrue. Horses were known in Egypt at least as long ago as the Middle Kingdom; the Hyksos (Arabs) overwhelmed the Egyptians who were undergoing a period of loss and turmoil, and horses became part of everyday life. The earliest known Egyptian images of horses appear to be from the 18th dynasty. *

Lionel Casson (I think it is) has some observations about the slow human adaptation to the horse as vehicle.
