Director Oliver Stone has cut the gay references from his 'Alexander' movie for the DVD version of the 2004 flop. Stone claimed that the Macedonian epic was unpopular with American audiences because of the subtle homosexual content.
He said, 'They didn't even read the reviews in the South because the media was using the words-- Alex is Gay.'
'As a result you can bet that they thought, We're not going to see a film about a military leader that has got something wrong with him.'
In the DVD version, Colin Ferell's Alexander the Great character's relationship with Hephaistion--played by Jared Leto--will be portrayed as simply a friendship.
However, fans of Rosario Dawson will be pleased to know that more angles of her character Roxanne's naked exposure will be included on the DVD.

It will still bomb. Except in San Fran.
Can he remove the gay scenes from Midnight Express while he's at it?
At least in JFK the gay references were somewhat necessary. I don't know much about other Oliver Stone movies. Are gay scenes a regular feature?
lmao! Although the Rosario Dawson scenes weren't bad at all.
If anyone else did this, they would be considered anti-gay.
Good point, where are the protestors now?
And that was the problem with the movie - yes, Alexander was gay, but that wasn't the prime mover in his life. The movie was basically "Alexander was gay, and incidentally, he conquered an empire, and hey, did you know Alexander was gay? Did I mention Alexander was gay?" Stone completely screwed the pooch on this one.

Subtle? I watched this movie while flying across the US on vacation. I had to turn it off, it was so bad. There was nothing subtle about this homo message.
Does this mean that they will be taking the gay subplots out of Kinsey as well?
Pure schadenfreude on so many levels.
The movie will still suck.
Oliver Stone blamed the South for his crap movie not doing well. LOL Why not blame the Red States?
Trying to polish a turd.
Kind of like recent attempts to rewrite The Clinton Legacy
Just saw the "director's cut" last night. What a piece of trash.
