Islam is what has kept Africa in the state of turmoil and sub-development. The passing comment does not read well as thoughtful of the problems in Africa. It is why *I* commented on it. I spent two years studying the history of Africa. Aside from being a HUGE continent with geographical barriers that the natives themselves have never fully conquered, it seems flippant to suggest that the problems in Africa are due to the fact the natives themselves are defective. Is there a reason why you think the natives are defective? The phrase I zeroed in on was “...it weren’t real anxious to have native folks as business partners.” Does that mean the Africans who DO try to foster business in their country and come here to start a business are less than Europeans?

I should add Islam and the envirowhacks. I blame those two outside influences for much of the harm that is enacted against Africa.

I don't really understand why you are so defensive about native Africans. I wouldn't say that native Africans are “defective”.

When you LOOK at what was there when Europeans arrived ... anyone can see why civilized people were not eager to start business ventures with them. Head hunters and cannibalism isn't exactly civilized behavior. If you want to defend that, that is your prerogative. There is good reason as to why inner Africa was referred to as the “dark interior”.

I wouldn't blame Islam for barbaric behavior. Perhaps later it negatively influenced an already uncivilized tribal people.

Today, through outside influences, missionaries and others helped to influence these folks. Truly when you look at the Zulus and Swahili people ... would YOU want to start a company with them in positions of leadership? If you are honest, you'd say no. It took time to have them adopt a civilized lifestyle. Even today, Africa is a very VIOLENT place.

People like Nelson Mandela, a Communist isn't helping them either. While there were inequities, hence the apartheid, I can understand why they lived separately ... as those in positions of authority fled the nation is crumbling and resorting back to earlier days of violence.
