I was researching an answer for you and discoverd that peonies can last for several decades once established!! I did not know that! You should wait til after the first frost and the plants go dormant to move them. The article said to plant the buds of the root clump no deeper than 2 inches below the soil surface; too-deep planting is the most common cause of lack of blooms. LSA
