A franklin stove is easy to add...if you don’t mind an ugly steel stove pipe sticking out of your roof.

We sure don't. And neither does the cat.

When people are huddled around their stove putting in the last pieces of their furniture, the appearance of the roof will not be an issue.

You don’t have to have the pipe stickinh out of your roof. We built a chimney on the outside of the house and the stove pipe is only a few feet, The matte black pipe to the wall matches the stove. Check out vermontcastings.com to see the dutchwest model that heats our home.

Two things, the pipe will be stainless steel insulated chimney, not steel stove pipe so not as ugly. Second, an insulated chimney is much safer and more efficient than a brick and mortar chimney mainly because the inside heats up much faster which prevents creosote buildup.
