I’m a bit confused too. The canal crosses the lake, no? The city of Ismailia must be fifty miles south, sort of a terminus of the east-west wadi; dunno about the “governate,” though it probably extends north and possibly to the lake.

Me too, I finally went to Google Earth -- a bread basket/Nile Delta spot, not out in the sand dunes anyhow.

It was found in Tel Defna between Al-Manzala Lake and the Suez Canal.
